What AP rate are you getting for AKL Concierge?

Hi All,

Has anyone gotten a price better than $385 inc tax a night for AKL Concierge during the winter value season of 2005?

I kind of figured that, but I guess I am just a little disapointed that the AP rate went up more then $100 a night over last year. We had an AP rate of $277 inc taxes for Concierge the last two winter value seasons. Oh well, I guess we will just have to stay with the AP rate on a regular savanna view room.

Yes, I was dissapointed with this as well. We go to Disney about once a year for a week and in the past I've always gotten an AP because the discounts on the room were always so good with it.

This time around the difference between the AP rate and the special code rate "BDP" was only $10/night. I really was expecting a much bigger discount for an AP (as in years past). Well this $10/night differece just was not worth the purchase of another AP this time.

We'll swallow hard with the Concierge at AKL this time because we really like the resort and want to take part in the Sunrise Safari. But unless the good old "deep discounts" return for AP holders I can't see continuing with the Concierge levels. They are nice but not worth the now $100+/night difference as compaired to non-concierge rooms to me.

We feel the same way. We are not "swallowing hard" for this trip as we have already done the Surise Safari twice and the Sunset Safari once but we are going to miss it but the difference between an AP rate regular savanna view room and an AP rate Concierge room is $220 a night. The regular savanna is $168 inc taxes and the Concierge room would have been $385 inc taxes a night. The difference is not worth it to us anyway.

I paid $277 in 2003 for a trip that I took my duaghters and mom. This year hubby is going and I wanted him to experience AKL concerige but the rate shocked me. So we will just have lots of nice dinners instead and go to cirque.

We are doing that also. Instead of the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris we are doing sitdown meals every night.

Did I read that right? The AP Rate is $385 a night????

Why so high? Is Wilderness Lodge also $385 a night for those dates?

Am wondering if maybe the resort is already booked by a convention or something, and Disney doesn't need to feel the additional rooms.

You did read this correctly. The rate went up over $110 a night inc taxes. The last two years the AP rate during the winter value season has been $277 a night inc taxes. I was expecting a rate increase due to the travel industry picking up but $110 a night is a lot. The only thing that I can think of is that they have hit their occupancy numbers. So if they can fill the rooms at $385 inc taxes a night more power to them. My husband and I are going to go with the regular savanna view room with an AP rate of only $168 and change a night inc taxes.

Yep, it's $345 a night before tax, $385 after. This is still a big discount. But hey, you could pay rack rate if you want.

So what if it's a higher rate than last year: demand is different than last year. In Disney's 3rd quarter earnings report, the resorts division reported a 10% rise in revenue, and 11% rise in profit (for the US operations). Clearly, there is more demand this year. Yeah, it's too bad for my wallet that I get less of a discount than last year, but it's still better than rack rate. And if ppl think it's too high, they can stay somewhere else. Nobody is forcing anyone to stay in a concierge level room. Disney is just getting a better price for it's top level product. And if it doesn't sell at the higher price, maybe they'll discount more heavily.

Yeah - I mean, It's still $100 savings per night! And the service I've gotten has been worth its weight in gold. If you really use the pre-planning team you get so much for your money, IMO. Not to mention the gorgeous lounge and its offerings::yes::

Did not get a quote for pool view but we are paying $168 including taxes for a savanna view room with an AP rate during the winter value season of 2005. Checkout www.mousesavers.com to see if they have what the AP rate for a pool view room is going for.

pool view during 2005 Value Season would be about $124 AP rate before taxes, I believe. Good luck!
