What am I missing about POP?

Hi Everyone! I am doing a solo trip this October for the first time (without family). I have not stayed on property in many years. I booked POP for Oct 22nd to the 27th. If with children I can definitely see the appeal but truthfully from the pictures I do not think it is for me. I love the idea of it but the design seems overwhelming. At first I was just looking for a cheaper disney property and my priority was the transportation but after looking at All Star Movies it seems more to my liking. It has the large Disney Characters all over but for some reason does not seem as overwhelming as POP and ASmovies seems to have more plantation and laid back scenery (don't know if I am explaining this right). I am thinking about changing to All Star Movies. Why does it seem so many people Love POP? Am I missing something? Anyone been to both and can give me the pros and cons of each? Thanks in advance!

I am doing my first "solo" (family friends are staying at POLY, but i do not plan on solely touring with them) at POP Oct 21-26th! I have requested a preferred room (I've stayed at POP before), i considered staying at POR (also, stayed here before), but with the price difference, and factoring in that i really only need a clean room, bed, and a shower daily..i decided not to upgrade. I've always had nothing but courteous and pleasant CM's at POP, the food court is pretty good, and they do not share buses with any other resort.

Thanks Steph2527 for the info. Between you and the other posters I am REALLY excited about staying at POP now. I had totally forgotten that POP had the lake in the back and nice walking paths. That was the deal breaker! I like all the Disney decor at POP but also need to get away from it every now and then and like natural scenery (lake, trees etc.). So in a way it seems like it would be the best of both worlds. I requested a room in the back facing the lake. Looking forward to the food court, Buses, CMs, ALL of it! Hoping that we picked a good time to go! Lots of sunshine PLEASE! Have a GREAT trip!!!

Out of all the resorts we've stayed at POP & CR are our favorites. We have stayed in just about every section at POP & found even the farthest bldg to be only a short walk to pools/main building. Unlike the one time we stayed at ASMU & were put in the farthest room in the farthest building on property, lol. Long way to parking & pools & main building so if staying at one of the All Stars solo, I would absolutely suggest you get a preferred room close to the front.

I totally agree. The farthest building from the food court in POP is a short walk across a parking lot. We were in the farthest away building at ASMu once and it was a 15-20 minute walk to the food court. It was awful.
