Jodi, did you know that the pacifier fairy makes rare appearances? You have to write a letter and ask her to come since she doesn't "know" that you're ready to give up your pacifiers the way the tooth fairy does.

And she usually leaves something special.
Santa will take pacifiers that are left in stockings and will leave a note and a special "big boy" toy.
Make a chart sectioned off for morning, afternoon, and night (a whole day is too much for a little one). For every section of time that he doesn't use his pacifier, he gets a sticker. X number of stickers earns him whatever you've agreed on. Just make "x" a small number to start with. FYI, three stickers equals one Chuck E. Cheese token would work.
TC used the "give it to another baby that needs it" idea.
With our third child, we had lots of pacifiers: one for the car, one for the bed, etc. I bagged them all up and we went shopping. Did you know that you can use one bag of pacifiers to buy one toy?

It took him about an hour to finally choose - and I can't believe I still remember - a bucket of playdough complete with toys. I got off easy!

The idea worked great, though. No tears, and only one question later about them. We made the mistake of checking out with a very young cashier that was really confused and not a kid-person, though. We were the only ones in line, so it wasn't like she was rushed. She didn't say one word to him. If I had to do over, I'd check out with a "grandma" type. She actually asked me
in front of him if I wanted the pacifiers back.
Can you tell I had fun with this?
