Hi all,

We are hopefully heading to WDW this winter and my husband thought it would be cute to dress our girls up in princess costume for the Christmas party. My oldest 16, does she fall under the no adults wearing costumes policy? Also have a 13yo. We aren't quite sure which costume/dress she would wear but are playing around with some cute ideas for our Christmas card this year.

TIA for an input!

According to the Disney World Theme Park Dress Code:

"•Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)."

They will likely not give you an issue unless they believe the costume is so authentic that she could be mistaken for a Disney cast member (or if the costume might be considered inappropiate, but that is likely not going to be the case here). If she is seen taking photos with guests or signing autographs that would be a no-no.

I agree with the previous poster that Disney Bounding is the route to go for your teenagers. It's fun, very popular, comfortable and age appropriate. Google it, some great ideas! A 16 year old especially will stand out if they wore a costume because most the girls walking around in costume are probably more the range of under 8 years old.

The general guide for Disney "adults" are 10 years and older but since Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makes over 3-12 year olds I would say a 12 year old could dress up in costume and be safe. But again most 12 year olds will not be dressed in costumes.

I agree there could be some issues with a 16 year old if the costume looks authentic. There was a 15 year old dressed like Tinkerbell who got kicked out of a park because somebody thought she looked too much like the "real thing." I believe they actually asked her to change and she pitched a fit so they had to take the group someplace private to hash it out.

Does your 16 year old even want to dress up as a princess? At 16, I would have died of embarassment. I think disney bounding is much more appropriate.

I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the 13 year old felt the same way.

My teens adore dressing up. My 15yo was over the moon when they had Disney week at school. She looked darling. I like this Disneybounding thing you all posted. Some great ideas!
