What age for Universal?

I am thinking of going back to Florida, but this time for Universal (we just got back from Disney). My kids will be 7, 5 and 3. Are they too young for Universal?

There are plenty of things for kids to do at both IOA and the Studios.

My DD6 loves Universal, particularly Seuss Landing. Not as much variety as WDW, but still plenty to do for her. YMMV.

I think it probably depends on the child. Actually our DS is 10. This past Nov. we went to WDW. He was given the choice of MVMCP or Harry Potter. He chose MVMCP & to stay just at WDW. We are planning our next trip in May 2012. He will be closer to 12 yrs. We are spending one day at Universal. But we all decided we must stay at a Disney resort.

There is plenty for kids to do at both Universal parks. I agree it depends on the kid though as to what they will enjoy. For instance my nephew is 8, he is a total Universal kid ever since his first trip at age 6. He calls WDW "Baby Land", and perfers the themeing of USO and IOA to Disney(especially Marvel Island and Jurassic Park). My neice loves WDW, especially anything to do with the Princesses, but she also loves Suess Landing, Shrek, Simpsons and oddly enough Jaws.

As for hotels, they both love the Universal resorts, mainly because it gets them FOTL access with no restrictions or fastpass needed(no lines=happy kids) and the fact that they don't have to wait for busses to get to the park, just wake up and walk. In fact my neice has a little song she sings that involves the words, "Don't gotta stand on the stinky bus..."

My 6 year old loved Universal, even though he was too short or too nervous to go on many attractions.

And wow do they make child-swapping EASY, since it's inside the line! Not that DS would have agreed to go inside the Mummy queue, so it doesn't work for all rides if you have a nervous kidlet, but it's still lovely that they do it inside the line, not outside like at Disney.
