What age did your kids figure out...

Mine never believed they were real but always loved them anyway. Lots of character meals under our belts. Youngest was about 3 or a bit younger when he told me he felt sorry for the person in that suit because he must be very hot:). We just never really ever had a conversation about them but i would never tell a child they were real if they asked me right out.

My nine year old is definitely in on the gig, but I don't know when it finally clicked for him. The seven year old I'm honestly not sure about. We had the Santa conversation last year, but when they asked if Santa was real I turned it back on them and asked what they thought and they jointly decided that Santa was real, but the one at the mall definitely wasn't him ;) My husband says they'll never tell me they're not real because they don't want to break the news to mom :rotfl:

They've both enjoyed seeing the characters beliefs aside, and it's high on their to-do list this next trip.

I don't think my kids ever thought they were "Real".
They still love them.

Same here. My kids didn't really think they were "real", but they enjoyed seeing them around!

I did make up a story when they were really little (2 and 4) that some little gifts in the room were from Mickey Mouse. That was it though.

My daughter figured it out somewhere between the trips at age 6 and almost 8 but still loves meeting the characters. I think she sees them like famous actors or rockstars - it's a real person but you're meeting thr star persona.

I was more worried about my niece, 12 on the last trip, being "too old" for the magic. But when she saw Marie was doing autographs, that girl beelined for the kitty so fast, I swear she ran over toddlers. :rotfl:

Idk... My 9yo knows but has never said it out loud. He keeps the magic for his brothers (ages 7/3) my 7yo is pretty witty but never says anything either. Winks from the two of them tell me they know :( it was never discussed though.

My 12 knows, and has probably known for some time, but would never admit it. It's like if you admit it then it spoils the magic, whereas living in denial everything is great.

I'm pretty much the same!
