My craft of choice is beading because I enjoy that I can do it while watching a movie or tv, it is not to hard and I can wear my creation.

I love to go to new beading stores and collect wonderful new beads to make anklets and necklaces.

I always come over to this board to try and find a beading thread and haven't found one yet so I decided to make one myself.

I can't knit or crochet or sew and I don't have time to scrapbook and I am not a very good cook, though I try. Beading is what I can do.

Does anyone else share my passion?

If so... What do you love about beading? How long have you been doing it? When did you start? Where do you go for great beads?

I have been thinking of starting beading. I am in LOVE with bracelets. My younger sister must own over 150 beaded bracelets!! I love the look of others wearing them and they are like snowflakes, no one is the same ;)

There is a bead store across from where I work but I have not been in yet and I know it will be deadly to my wallet :rotfl:

Do you make bracelts? Do you sell them?

I do make bracelets, but I don't sell any of my stuff at the moment. Perhaps I will one day when I get better at it and I am able to get better beads. Right now I mainly use A.C. Moore and there selection is not that great.

I make a lot of anklets because mine are a bit wider than most and I have a hard time buying them in stores.

I'm so glad I know that at least one other person shares my interest. Do you sell yours? I'm glad there isn't a bead store next to me. I would be in there everyday. *waves goodbye to Disney vacation money*

No I haven't sold any. I'm just starting to get into the making part of it. I usually buy them ;) I was out on my lunch break today and bought two bracelets at the mall.

There is a lady here in the town where I work that makes bracelets with magnet clasps. I just love them! No need to try to hook them they just pop together ;)

I love those clasps. They well them in one of my supply catalogs. I have been thinking about getting some in.

Another beader here. I love beading....bracelets, earrings, necklaces, anklets. It's another addiction I have.

I started beading about 4 years ago....wanted a Mother's bracelet, so I called the 'Bead Lady' to see if she could help me. She had me come over and she taught me how to make my own creations. Taught me the tricks and all the ins and outs that she could. Once I started I couldn't stop. It was awesome, I have much smaller wrist than most people and I realized that would no longer be a burden! One thing led to another and I have recruited many of my freinds and co-workers to start their own. They wanted me to 'make' them somethings.....I pointed them in the direction to make their own. I am lucky, the 'BEAD LADY' has probaly the best quality stuff I've ever seen (bali beads, crystals, seed beads, pearls, gemstones, bone, silver, filled gold, clasp, a few different stringers, and anything else you could imagine). One other source I have found a few good fines are at ArtBeads.com

yay! A new place for me to look.

I wish I had some one like that to teach me the ins and outs of beading. I pretty much just figured out in early September how to put on the clasps and use cinchers and I am hooked. I think since I live in a small town I would be better served getting those beading magazines that would have lots of tips and places to go.

EDIT-I checked out that website. It's awesome. I bookmarked it and already ordered some great beads. Thank you!

Another beader checking in. :wave2:

I string jewelry and would love to try some of the stitching but I never seem to do anything but make alot of knots!!

When I first started I took a simple stringing class at our local jo-anns. I think it cost $20 and was 3 weeks long. We made a necklace, bracelet and matching earrings. Well worth the $$ so I could figure out how to make those crimps work! :teeth:

I love shopping through

www.finedings.com

www.firemountaingems.com

www.riogrande.com

www.auntiesbeads.com

Much better quality and pricing than what I was finding at the craft stores!!

I just started beading. I made some to sell for donations to help fund my 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk.

That is a good reason to start beading. That is an awesome thing you are doing. Good luck with it. When is the walk?

lol. I hope your ready.

I just spent way to much on beads thanks to the links I got on this thread. lol. I knew it was a dangerous idea.

It is nice to talk to people who share this interest with me.

If this thread keeps up...(i hope, i hope) I think it would be awesome to do a bead swap. Then we could each get a bunch of an interesting bead mail them around and end up with all sorts of different ones. We would mostly likely not be able to put that together for months, but I was thinking about it.
