What about Holiday Inn Maingate West?

I haven't stayed there but was considering it until I read reviews on tripadvisor. Quite a few negatives & some mentioned a smell like mold. My son is very allergic to mold so I decided to not take a chance. I know those reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt but I wasn't willing to risk running into something that might set off my son's allergies. It may be a perfectly fine property though.

There were a lot of positive reviews on Trip Advisor so I booked a room there and going to give it a try. We visited there when friends stayed there and it was very nice.... :sunny:

I stayed there in late March '99. We found it clean but no frills. The lobby was nice with a little fountain in the center.

We had a room on the 6th floor that, at that time, had been newly refurbished. You could tell there was fresh paint on the walls, new wallpaper border, new bedspreads, carpet was in good condition. The bathroom seemed newly refurbished as well. The caulking around the tub etc seemed newly applied. Saw no mold in the bath area. The pool is on the small side. We never had any smell of mold or smoke in our room. Now this is 6 years later, so not sure if all of this still stands true.

There is a restaurant in the hotel and kids 12 and under were free with paying adult. The reason we stayed here was that our local grocery store was running a promo of $99 for 3 nights. Figured we'd add on an extra trip that year for that price.
