Here's my question... We are one of the crazy families who are coming Christmas 2005. I am in the early planning stages. We have always stayed at a value, but am wanting to try a moderate. What are you opinions of Caribbean Beach?? Is it really spread out?? Out last trip we stayed at Pop and it was pretty noisy, but we were on the bottem level in a corner room, so I am sure that is part of the noise. Also does anyone know if they ever have AP rates for the holidays?? Thanks for your help. Just trying to get these plans set as soon as we can.

As you can see, we absolutely love CBR - we just love the tropical atmosphere and have never found anything to complain about. The food court is easily accessible; the pools aren't huge but average size (one for each 'island') - but we are not water park/pool people so we just don't care. the scenery is beautiful and the rooms are the largest of any moderate. We have found that if you request a room in Jamaica your bus stop will most likely be the first to p/u and the first to d/o making it very convenient. It is less than a five minute beatiful walk over a small walking bridge to get to Old Port Royale food court where they have everything that you need. We have already made plans and are heading there for 10 nights in September. You should check out the All You Need to Know About CBR thread posted by safetymom if you need more information.
As far as your question about the AP rates, I am not too certain but I think that since the rates are the highest that means that they book most if not all of their rooms during the holiday season which means chances are slim that AP rates are offered but perhaps someone knows more than me. Good luck!!!

We have stayed at Port Orleans, All Star Music, Pop Century, and Carribbean Beach. Out of them all we enjoy Carribbean Beach the best. Being just DH and I we like the laid back and secluded atmosphere. We always rent a car so I cant comment on the transportation or the food court as we were never there. But the rooms were really nice and very spacious (we had a king bed). They were clean and well decorated to make you feel like you were in a tropical paradise NOT a theme park but that is what Disney is all about right?

I dont think you can go wrong at Carribbean Beach--checkin was a bit slow but that was the worst part of it all. Enjoy your stay at Carribbean or wherever you decide.

CBR at Christmas is a great time to go. You will feel like you have escaped to a tropical island. They have great activities for the family at Old Port Royale on Christmas Eve.

Even when the resort is full to capacity you won't notice it. Unless you stay in Trinidad South you aren't that far of a walk away from the main pool and food court.

You might want to read the thread below and check out my CBR pictures to get you in the mood for your vacation.

Hi Safetymom,

I don't know if anybody has mentioned this to you but when I click on your link for the Carribean Beach thread in your signature, I receive the following error:

We loved CBR!! We had a horrible stay at ASMo for 2 nights and CBR was like a breath of fresh air!! Some of my fave memories from the trip are playing in the quiet pool at night with my boys, walking to the port royal at night and seeing the fireworks from Illuminations and laying on the hammock as my boys played in the sand. It was just sooo nice and relaxing. And I know alot of people say it's too spread out, but we didn't have a problem with it. We were in Barbados 15, facing the lake, 2nd floor. The walk to the busstop was like 2 minutes, steps away from Barbados quiet pool and the walk to Port Royal was like 5-7 min. Not too bad at all!

Link to CBR thread is fixed. Don't know what the DIS did because that link worked for a very long time.

We love to hear all the POSITIVE feedback about CBR. We are going there for 8 nights in a few weeks! It looks so beautiful! Safetymom has been great with all her info! We are requesting Jamaica and a connecting room for our friends!
Great thread!

Once when WDW offered "World of Recreation," which let us do any recreational thing for one price, we went to the CBR to rent a boat. You could also rent those pedal bike things. There was an island in the middle for kids to play on, beach volleyball, an outdoor bar by the pool, and a big food court. Do they still have their marina/rentals? I know they recently renovated their food court.

So even though we didn't stay there, my impression was that it is very nice and has a lot to offer vacation-wise without even leaving the resort :)

CBR is wonderful, i'm sure you will love it.
we stayed there last year for 7nights/8days.

things i liked about it:

1. tropical decor: really fits with florida weather, very laid back style
2. beautiful landscaping & gorgeous island walk
3. beaches with hammocks... those hammocks soooo relaxing!
4. wildlife all around - big turtles!
5. nice pools (and many of them for private night swimming), fun main pool with waterslide and water cannons.
6. nice pool bar, great drinks
7. good food selection, very cute decor in dining area
8. easily accessible bus stops
9. peace and quiet! (because it is more spread out) enjoyable peaceful walks from island buildings to main.

as you can see i am staying at AKL this year, to try something new, but i'd recommend CBR to anyone and stay there again.

i think the moderates are ideal because they are spread out to escape the more frenetic value resorts.

have fun!!!

Hate to say it but CB is the one Disney resort I would not return to. As others have stated, it's too spread out and takes forever to make all the bus stops in the resort before you even get on your way to the parks. We stayed in Jamaica. Just be prepared for a hike to get to the main building and food court area.

I agree with you completely. I will never stay at CBR again. We stayed in Trinidad South and it is also a good, long hike. If it was me, I would either look for a different moderate resort or stick to the value resorts. I was surprised, but I much prefer the AS over CBR. Sorry to those of you that love it. It is just my opinion based on my own experience.

I stayed there four years ago and I enjoyed my stay. The only mistake I made was not requesting a room close to the main pool and the food court. It's a pretty far walk if you are one of the sections away from Port Royal. However, you might like being away from the hustle and bustle. Each section has their own quiet pool and I thought the grounds were magnificent. Walking around the resort early in the morning was beautiful and so peaceful. The only other Disney resort I stayed at was POFQ and although I liked that one also, I think I liked CBR a little better.

Try it I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Going in August and I can't wait.

Pop Century here I come.

We stayed at CBR for 9 days in early December. Even though the resort may be spread out I found it to be very quiet and peaceful. This was a nice break from the parks which will be very crowded at Christmas time. The only problem we had was the food court was very crowded at meal times so it would probably be better to plan to eat your meals away from the resort.::MinnieMo

Thanks for all your posts, we have just booked our stay for December 2005 and the Carribean Beach. We have always stayed at a moderate, but since we are going at a "value time" we are going to splurge alittle and go for a moderate. Our boys will be 15 and 12 so even if we don't get the Jamiaca request, I think we will still be ok. We will just enjoy the scenery of being there close to Christmas. We will also be taking our first 3-night Disney Cruise.

I am excited!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
