How many of you medicate your little ones before the cruise to ward off sea sickness? What do yu use? I tried looking at our drug stores and I cannot find anything for our 3 year old that does not cause drowiness.

Help!!!!!!!!! :confused3

I would try wal-mart.. I always get non drowsy dramamine there for my ds5 and never had a problem. I also always see people recomend bonine...

Tried Wal Mart ...nothing. I wish they had a childrens Bonine...no drowsiness to combat!

Hi! We sailed this past Jan (28th) and my dd 3 never had a problem. We had a few rough nights and she never even mentioned it. I brought ginger cookies just in case and knew I could get something on the ship if I needed to. Others have mentioned ginger tablets but the ones I found at Walmart were only to be used by adults. Have a great time. ~Barb~

I would ask your Pedi..I don't think that you can give anything without the drowsy effect...
But..I don't know if you really need to worry...I was worried my DD would have a problem..but nothing

We did the 4-day recently and I didn't hear of one person being seasick. The ocean was pretty rough the first night too. We are all different and I know the sea can be very rough at times, but I wouldn't give kids any medication prior to sailing and seeing what happens. Of course, that is just my opinion.

We cruised with friends of ours and they had 3 kids (mine was too little to talk.) They never even mentioned being sea sick. Honestly, I would talk to the doctor, you don't want to get the little one sick from some med they have never had. That could be worse than being sea sick. Good Luck!

Kroger usually has it too, but they also sell like little patches people put behine their ear? there is also a braclet... I forget where I found that, I wore it on my first cruise since I was 2 months pregnant my 1st cruise and thought I would have a terrible time but it didn't bother me at all. Our last cruise our table mates children (about 12ish) got sea sick... but I'd just check w/pedi like they all suggested. good luck :)

I picked up the wrist bands (don't know the exact name of them) at Walgreens in Cocoa Beach just in case, but neither my 5 or almost 3 yr old needed them. If you know they get seasick, then pre-medicate them. But IMO, I wouldn't preventatively drug them unless I knew they would be seasick, even with a pediatrician's permission, b/c they could get the side effects from medicine they don't even need.

Our pharmacist said Bonine is for adults only, no child dosage available or recommended.

I can't help with your question about finding preventative treatments for three year olds, but I want to add that our daughter was 3 when we sailed last year and she was not effected at all. (None of us were.) Do you have reason to believe your 3 year old would be effected? We didn't meet anyone whose children were sea sick during any part of the trip even the last night when we had very rough seas. I hope that helps a little.

Thanks everyone! I called her doctor and he said give her 1 1/4 tsp. non-drowsy benedryl and that is the same meds as dramamine. So we will have it with us just in case. :thumbsup2

So if anyone needs some on the 3/18/06 Eastern...stop on by.

We used this for all of the kids. None of them got sick. Their parents talked to their Pedi before we bought anything. We were given the go ahead and the kids didn't mind the taste.

If you don't want to order it online, your Local GNC can order it for you.

Our pediatrician recommended the children's chewable benadryl. I gave DS4 1/2 of a tablet each night at bedtime, and he was never seasick. I think we'll do the same next cruise!
