What a waste, should be revoked

I have neighbors (with kids, no less). They never go to the parks and didn't even know that Aerosmith was part of Rock n Rollercoaster. I feel so sorry for those kids... they are SO deprived!

Ok, a little off topic, but, for all you who live in Florida, I have a question. How do you keep the bugs out of your house? And, how do you handle the rainy/hot months of summer?

I think my wife and I would love to live in a community "near" Orlando in the years to come. However, the thought of year round bugs and the incredibly hot and wet summers are a deterent. Obviously, hurricanes are an issue as well.

Please give me some pros and cons to a relocation to north central Florida.

Thanks in advance!

Newarknut,

My inlaws have a winter home near WDW and they spend a lot of time in the summer there as well because they miss the restaurants, parks, etc. They have to be there to do some required maintainenance and to check on it.
That said, they will do a few chores very early in the morning, stay in during the hottest part of the day, and then go out at night. It's difficult for them at times, but the trade off is missing the cold, wet winters we have here.

I've been looking at the Ocala area. It seems quite nice. It's only an hour and a half from Orlando. We would want a little "country" around us. We like to visit the city, but don't want to live in it.

Any other info on the bugs and stuff would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Davenport and that is country. I can see cows grazing in the fields behind my house.

I haven't had any problems with bugs here in FL. I have learned about fire ants :) but haven't had any more bugs here than in PA where I lived.

Don't let FL bugs scare you. Come on down.

They say that familiarity breeds contempt and maybe that is the secret? We live between Indianapolis and Louisville and I have only been to one Indy 500 and never been to Churchill Downs at all. Guess it is a matter of thinking that the grass is always greener etc and the fact that the nearby things willl 'always be there' SOMEDAY.

Maybe the reason we all love DW so very much is that it is a fantasy that we cannot indulge everyday so we appreciate it more.

BTW, I would love to move to DW area and be a CM. Even have the perfect idea of what my job might be, Fairy Godmother who goes to the resorts to read the kids to sleep while their parents are out and about. My grandson says that should be my job but he is not ready for me to go to work for anyone else but him, yet. LOL

Slightly Goofy
