This has to be the month from hell!! As I already posted in an earlier thread, two weeks ago we had to take our DD's labrador dogs to another home, which was very traumatic for us as a family! :( Then on Tuesday my eldest DD was taken into hospital with suspected appendicitis. However after running several test the consultant does not think that is what is causing the pain. So after three days of tests the doctors are really no nearer figuring out what is going on. We were told yesterday that our DD has to stay in the hospital to be monitored until either the pain goes away or things start to get worse. Apparently appendicitis can sometimes present in different ways, so even though the blood work doesn't indicate that this is the cause, it can't be ruled out.

Meanwhile I'm staying OP and don't know how, because the food at the hospital is not the healthiest, and most of it is gone by 3.30 in the afternoon. Right now I just want to have some hot food to eat. I am sick of the sight of sandwiches!! :(

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and prayers. Our DD is now home from the hospital. What an ordeal!! She was in so much pain on Friday and Saturday, and then on Sunday she woke up and said that she was better and went off to the play room  Anyway it looks like she had something called Mesenteric Adenitis (sp?) Which is inflammation of the Mesenteric Lymph nodes. Apparently the pain is very similar to appendicitis and it can clear up as quickly as it starts. It was great news to hear that she didn't have to have surgery, and everything seems to be pretty much back to normal. :sunny:

  and more:hug:

i am so sorry you have to deal with all this

i hope they figure out what is going on with your DD soon
how old is she??

congrats on staying OP i don't know how you are doing it but good for you

:wizard: pixie dust is headed your way
hope things get better soon

Big :grouphug: from your WISH family.
I understand what you're going thru. My DS spent a week at St. Jude and I remember I couldn't even taste the food. Even orange juice didn't have any taste. It's amazing what your body does when you're under stress. Call a friend and ask her to cook something and bring it to you. So many times friends/family want to help, but just don't know what to do. Take advantage.

I hope the Docs figure it out fast, keep us posted.

God love you! I'll be praying for your DD and you! Keep your strength up and eat healthy.

Oh, Catherine. . .you, your DD, your family, and the docs are all in my prayers. I hope you find some answers soon--sometimes not knowing is the hardest thing. Keep us posted when you can, but only when you have time. Taking care of the situation at hand is your number 1 priority right now.

 ,

Catherine, your family is in my thoughts and prayers.  It sounds like the doctors are really watching your DD closely, that should be a huge help in the long run. Hopefully, they will be able to diagnose the problem soon and get treatment going.

More   for you as you try to stay OP while this scary situation is going on. I know firsthand that its not easy to stay OP in a hospital, and especially while dealing with a very stressful thing like this.

Keep us posted when you are able.

Dear Catherine,
Here's more hugs and prayers from my family to yours. I hope you get some answers very soon. When it comes to kids the worries are increased and you wish you could spare them from the ordeal. Thanks for letting us know so we can provide some support here in our WISH way.
Kathy

I have your daughter in my prayers. I hope they find the cause of her pain very soon. {{{HUGS}}} my friend.

I am so glad to read that your DD is much better now. I know that you all are so thankful that surgery wasn't needed. What an ordeal and you did survive. I hope that you are getting you something to eat besides sandwiches now.
