My family and I just returned from a week at Disney World. It was our first time going to Disney World and we were so excited, but it was very short lived!

Disney lost our dinning reservations that I spent weeks trying to get. They gave me confirmation numbers when I reserved them, but when we arrived they couldn't find us in the system.

We spent close to $1500 for our 7 day park hopper tickets and we probably spent 80% of our time waiting in lines. Those fast pass things are a joke, they were either all gone by 10am or we'd show up at our designated time and still have to wait in line for another 20-30 minutes.

I think the only smart thing I did was NOT spend the $4200 Disney wanted to stay in a 2br unit at their Beach Club resort. Instead we rented a luxury 5br home just 5 minutes south of WDW that had a private pool for only $1200 per week! Our kids had more fun playing in the pool and water slide at our rental home then they did at WDW!

After only 2 days at WDW we ended up going to Universal Orlando where we had a blast! The only rides we had to wait in line for was Spiderman and Jurassic Park...10 minutes! Our 7 day park hopper tickets to Universal cost me $89 each!

Universal Orlando and our rental home ended up being our saving grace, otherwise our entire vacation would of been a disaster!

so sorry to hear that. we went this past feb for our first trip and had a blast infact so much so that we booked sept and march and bought into dvc because we loved our 1 bedrm onsite. we choose to go on lowcrowd time in early feb and hit the parks first thing and we rarely waited. we used fast pass and walked onto rides with no more than a 5 minute wait....however we were in "kiddie land" only thing we waited for was to meet tinkerbell and the look on dd face was sooo worth it.

to each is own sorry you didn't "feel the magic"

Sorry you didn't have a great time in Disney. That is nuts about your reservations. Glad you did have fun in Universal though. I didn't know their tickets were that cheap. That's a good deal.

Two words for you: Ride Max. We spent the first week of June totally immersed in Disney-dom. The longest we waited for rides was 10 minutes. The longest we waited for a seat at a show was 25 minutes. And that was inside the theater in the air conditioning waiting for the theater to fill.

Yeah, we had a very similar experience the second week of December. They didn't loose all of our dinning reservations just the one we wanted most at Cinderella's Royal Table. :headache:

We had a confirmation number with the correct date and everything and I called to confirm our reservations two weeks before we left for WDW, but when we showed up they couldn't find us in the system? I think they just bump who ever they want if someone more important shows up or your in the process of buy a DVC membership.

Disney was "kind" enough to book us for lunch there the following day, but then charged me another $200. I had to call my credit card company to reverse the charges for the original reservation.

Wow, I never heard of Disney not accepting your ADR, even though you have your confirmation #. They always try to accommodate you. That is why it is so important to keep your numbers with you. They tried to tell me they didn't have my ADR's for O'Hana and when I showed her my ADR #, some how it magically was found.

I went to Universal the week after Easter and the place was empty. I think the economy is really hurting Sea World and Universal. I had a 7 day ticket too, I actually won mine from a commercial that was on during the Superbowl. But Universal tickets are still a bargain for 7 days for $89.
