What a difference!!

We went to the Open House for the kids' school last night and I am amazed by how different it is from last year!!

Last year we were in 3 different schools. This year we are all in one school.

Last year Kaylees teacher was down right icy cold to everyone including the children which I really hated and anytime you would go in to the classroom she would look at you like "why are you bothering me?"

This year we were welcomed with open arms, bright smiley faces and offers of help in deailng with transitions.

All 3 of their teachers this year made it a point to say " You are welcome to come in ANY time" and "please feel free to contact us for anything"
The prinicpal greeted us BY NAME and made it a point to say " I cant tell you how much we love having all your children, but I have to tell you, Karissa is SUCH a joy! Everyone loves her and she makes us smile every day!"


I LOVE all 3 teachers this year!!


I am SO much happier this year with school !


How is everyone else feeling about the schools this year?

We're in the same school (a K-8) but have moved up to middle school this year. What a difference!! Last year I really lost my enthusiasm for helping DD keep organized, and every time I turned around there was a new problem or issue (including her dad, my exDH, insisting that she be tested for ADD, which is his diagnosis.) DD is fine, no problems discovered, and this year I have really gone in like a lion to insist she keep organized, do homework in a timely manner, study for tests more than just the night before, etc.

It's really paying off, too. And having a subject teacher, instead of just the 5th grade classroom teacher, is wonderful. Specific areas can be addressed, and DD is really shining in a couple of areas, so she's getting positive feedback as well as reminders to work harder in other areas.

I love this year so far!!!!

It sounds like you'll all have a great year, binny! Ds is still at the same school as last year, where we're quite happy. Just wish they'd lower the class sizes.
DD started middle school though. YIKES! That in itself is taking some time to get used to!
