What’s in your Christmas stocking?

OOoooOoooo!!! I LOVE filling our family stockings with fun stuff! Some of the best gifts are in the stockings. We have 4 adult kids (two girls, two boys), 23, 25, 26 and 28 and they still look forward to opening every year.

*starbucks cards
*All kinds of fun beauty items for the girls, Naked new eyeshadow palette, lip glosses from Mac, etc
* Sees Candies: Chocolate Santa, scotch mallow trees, candy canes.
* Fun small tech items
* Cocoa bombs
* Fun soaps and shaving lotions for the boys
* fuzzy warm socks or slippers
* silly gag gifts that rotate around
*card games

I stuff those suckers until they are bulging and spilling out. I mean, that's how Santa does it, right? 🎅🏼🎄

What’s in your Christmas stocking?

Typically, candies (particularly marshmallow Santas), small games/trinkets, and an orange.

Sometimes a book or other small-ISH items. I have a large size stocking (over 3 feet tall) made by my mother many years ago.

We open stockings last, as they will often have things like batteries or extra cables and accessories that might give away a larger gift. We put candy and other small gifts in them.

I just bought stocking stuffers at Target for DH, DS26 and DS23. The boys are getting their favorite candy. I get them different things but make sure they have the same number of items (yes, they still count and compare!). For DH, I got chocolate covered cherries, peppermint patties and smoked almonds. Last year I also put beef jerky in his. The jury is still out on whether my stocking will get stuffed. It's hit and miss. They pass the buck and say they thought someone else was doing it.

LuvBunnies. I now happily stuff things into my own stocking too. Nothing big. Sometimes things I just wanted to try. Last year I put in
o Keeffe ‘s working hands and the feet lotion.

and scratch offs - I forgot to go get some- need to go grab them for everyone including me ;)

DH gives me a standing coupon for Fannie may pixies for the freezer- when I run out of them, I tell him, he goes gets a box and they go back in the freezer for me to eat- one at a time. And he buys me flavored soda throughout the year when I have the taste for it. (Grape or strawberry). I tell him it is the year long gift.

I do the stockings every year for us. Nothing exciting - candy, socks, scratch offs, Baileys for my DH. This year I’m out of it for some reason. Need to get my butt in gear next week.

I've kind of given them up as it got harder and harder to find things to put in them. It was easy when my kids were little, but when they got older I just couldn't find much because they were so picky about things. Also, I could always seem to find things for my daughter (makeup, jewelry) that were small; but I could never find much for my son so the stockings became very uneven and I had to stop.

I love stuffing the stockings!
I went to the drugstore yesterday and bought all my loot for everyone.

soap, shampoo, candies/chocolates, nail clippers, lighters, razors, shaving cream, mascara, pimple cream, body lotion, protein bars, bandaids, mouthwash, toothpaste, deodorant, EZ hooks, a new stapler, scotch tape, lol - we’re pretty practical :)

No stockings for DH or me; I still do one for DS even though he's an adult now. It's a huge thing that a dear person made him when he was little and our tree wouldn't look right without it underneath. If there's one special gift we're giving him on a particular year that fits in there, that's where I put it and fill the rest of it with more mundane things like the requisite socks and underwear. I think DS actually likes those the best. At age 25, he's never in his life had to buy himself a pair of either. For the record, when DS finally moves on in life, we'll discontinue the stocking altogether and send it off with him as a keepsake.

My DS has also probably rarely had to buy socks or underwear thanks to stockings.

Stockings are my favorite part. I love to find little things all year that they will enjoy. That being said, I’m happily giving it up after this year for Dd and DSIL. I only kept it going this long (through college and the past 3 post college) because they would come to town and wake up here on Christmas morning. Now that they’re back in town, they’ll wake up in their own house. Giving up stockings for them will allow me to buy for the grandson I’ll have by next Christmas without increasing our Christmas budget.

My parents never bothered with stockings - with 5 kids and working FT my mother barely wrapped. They'd hide everything at the next door neighbors and traipse it across the lawn. When I was a teen I bought stockings for everyone and would place my gifts for the family in them. I forget what happened to them after I moved out. My SIL made stockings for us and each year I would sometimes decorate and sometimes fill them. My elder sister made stockings for the kids which I would fill with small items. We learned to always be present when the kids opened anything because it helped insure the items remained, at least initially, in working condition. Once the kids became adults we mainly eliminated boxed gifts and started filling the stockings.

Each year the stockings contain an under garment item, a book, an article of clothing, a toy, a personal care item, a gadget of some sort and anything else I can fit. The SIL's get interesting because I definitely bought stockings that were TOO BIG and my kids are NO HELP with ideas. LOL I think the stockings are fun and a way to be creative.

In addition to other items mentioned, this year my guys are getting travel Dude wipes and poo pouri. DS loves Happy Potter so I have a pile of the surprise mini ornament packages. He won’t know which ones he has until he opens, which adds a nice fun element.

Always on the lookout for small items for stockings
When DH was young his Mom always had a 4 piece Whitmans Sampler in the stocking
Need to mail stocking to DS with candy ,socks, hand warmers and a popcorn ball in the toe
Still do stockings for DD , SiL and the 2 grandsons

Stockings are my favorite. If you wake up at my house you have a stocking. As a kid, we always got an orange in the toe. I have modified that to a Terry's chocolate orange. I do candy, socks, maybe Pj pants, gift cards, alcohol, bath stuff , and topped with fresh gingerbread men from a local bakery.

I used to enjoy doing the stockings when the kids lived at home, but now I find it very difficult. I don’t know what kind of shampoo, etc they use anymore. It is so hard to figure out anything for my son-in-law. So, basically, I get candy, but it doesn’t seem like enough (even though it gets expensive when you’re buying for 6). Maybe I’ll pick up some ideas in this thread.

When I was little, we had the stockings laid at the end of the bed after we fell asleep. There was always an orange and nuts in the shell (which we had no idea how to open). I'm sure there were little toys and candy but I don't remember. For my kids, it was candy and little toys like the card games/war/old maid, that paddle with the ball, jacks, etc. I quit when they turned 18 as they either went away to college or moved out with friends.

Continuing traditions from when I was a kid, the stockings that my wife & I have will always be sure to include a large apple, a large orange, a popcorn ball (when I can find them), and a small assortment of candy. We'll also add one or two small gifts.

The stockings used to also contain the big Lifesavers Christmas "book" with 10 assortments. Lifesavers has those little "books" that have a few different flavors but it's not the same.

My mom used to fill stockings for both my sister and I, as well as my dad. Typically it's stuff like razors, snacks, socks, phone accessories, batteries, etc. She passed away in March, but I have a stocking for myself which I'm tempted to fill just to carry on the tradition. My dad doesn't really get into that though.

for the adults, always a chocolate "orange" and other higher grade chocolate.
Kids get novelty candies
Then everyone gets and ornament and small things they might like. It varies every year
