I have requested a one bedroom unit at BCV for January but have been placed on the wait list. I just called central reservations, not DVC, and found out that they have a one bedroom, at an annual pass rate, for the time I am on the wait list. Does central reservations get dates that and not available to DVC members?

CRO has availablity at DVC resorts from three sources.

1). DVD has retained 2-4% of the rooms at every DVC resort. These rooms are used to replace inventory when rooms are being renovated/repaired, but any excess may be rented thru CRO.

2). DVC members make a great number of rooms available when we use points for non-DVC options like the Disney Cruise, Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection and stays at other Disney Resorts. This is the greatest source of DVC availability for CRO. These rooms may not be reserved using points since the room has already been reserved using points and is now offered only for cash to pay for the non-DVC option.

3). 60 days ahead, any rooms unreserved using points are made available to CRO for cash rental. These rooms are also available to MS for point reservations.

There are many situations where DVC rooms are available for cash reservations, but there is no availability thru MS on points. Sounds like you've discovered one of those instances.

Good luck with the wait list!

Thanks Doc.

Will the unused nights be returned to the DVC inventory if not used via "cash" or AP discount rooms? If so, how late in the process are they returned?

Seems that you find out something new every day.

you can still get the '60' day unused - but it takes longer - MS has to call CRO (WDTC) and verify that the villas are still availability before they let you have it.

the 60 day stuff is to our advantage - the rent is put in the general fund after CRO takes there part of it for renting the unit.

I'm not sure that the "cash" rooms are commonly available thru MS for point reservations at all. If they are released for points, I wouldn't expect it until you are within the last 7 days prior to arrival.

At this point, I would expect you'll still have a chance for your nights using the waitlist for a January reservation. You may also want to consider another DVC resort for your stay and continue the waitlist at BCV.

Good luck again! :)
