Whale-watching tour in San Francisco

Has anyone done one of these? We are considering doing one in early August. When would you say is the best time to go? Morning, afternoon, or evening?

Are you talking about the short one under the bridge? I'd prefer morning or later afternoon. Also depends on if you want to catch some good pics of sunset under the GG Bridge

It's a 2.5 hours tour, and it does go by the Golden Gate Bridge. The last one goes out at 5 pm, so I don't think we'd be seeing the sunset. I guess I was just wondering when the whales are more active so that we have a good experience. The pictures are just secondary.

In recent days whales were spotted right around the Golden Gate Bridge.

A good place for whale watching without getting on a boat is the Point Reyes Lighthouse.
