I feel like I've been under a rock, because this was a surprise to me tonight when I started doing research on the 2015 plan. Just curious - does anyone know why they removed these? I understand that there are many other options at Disneyworld, but I was looking forward to using credits at a couple of restaurants in Downtown Disney, so this is not very appealing.

If I'm not mistaken, most if not all of the downtown locations will not show up on the dining plan until much closer to 2015. I think it is because they are not Disney owned? Don't worry, I'm sure they will show up!

Many restaurants don't sign up until the end of December. It's like that every year. Don't worry. :goodvibes

Oops  I sent Disney a "concerned customer" email about the fact that the Downtown Disney restaurants were not included on the 2015 dining plan. My e-mail wasn't like :furious: but it was like . I feel kind of stupid now.

Thank you for your reply. That's great news to hear!!

They will usually start showing as we get close to the new year. It has to do with contracts and getting the companies to come to an agreement on it. There may be a few that are no longer on it. But I expect to see most return

Historically, the Downtown Disney restaurants do honor the DDP. They just wait till the last minute to renew their contract. I had the same question last year and all the DD restaurants showed up at the end of December.

Dear Angela,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

While Walt Disney World® does own The Downtown Disney area, each
restaurant is not required to participate in the Disney Dining Plan.
every restaurant on property has the option to opt in or out by signing
a contract or declining. For the 2015 Disney Dining Plan, these
restaurants have opted out. Unfortunately There is not a way to book a
reservation with less nights of the dining plan than are a part of your
reservation.

If you are concerned aout the first or last nights of your
reservation, you can modify your reservation to a shorter time and book
1 night as a room only booking. This would allow you to have one night
without the Disney Dining Plan.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

For my sake, I hope that the Disboards answers are right and Bradley is mistaken about these restaurants opting out for 2015!!

Wow - that is crazy. I bet less people will take the DDP now - or book two reservations. Thanks for posting.

They haven't opted out, they just haven't opted in at this point. Every year at this time the board gets this question posted dozens of times and every year they all eventually get signed up.

The people responding to emails use the same information that you see. And they for darn sure aren't going to deviate from protocol or say anything that could make you think something that might happen down the road when it's in writing.

Right? I feel like this has started early a bit this year.

That response is incorrect in one aspect. They do have to sign a contract - but they won't sign them until at least December. So you won't see them on the list anytime before then. And there is always a chance that they could opt out - but they haven't historically. They'd obviously lose all dining plan business if they did.

And the bolded part is what protects the company from being accused of giving bad information for when the DTD restaurants opt in. ;)
