Wetting Accidents seem unavoidable....help!!!!!

I really appreciate all your alls replies and advice...I am definately thinking of the pullups for a backup because I think she would be less embarassed if she had an accident than if she had one and wet her pants. I am also thinking of getting a small timer and keeping it with us while we are in the park and setting it for every two hours.

Sometimes she will go to the bathroom and then it won't be ten minutes and she has got to go again...sometimes we do not make it and I think there is actually a problem but I am going to talk to her Dr. about it. I wonder if kids can be diagnosed with overactive bladders???Has anyone ever heard of this condition being present in kids??? She has to get up all night long and sometimes she does not make it to the bathroom and we have had to change sheets several times through the night becasue of accidents....

Yes kids can have overactive bladders.

I sent you a pm about this also.

I agree maybe have this checked out.
My 5 year old had a similar problem but #2. She would go to the bathroom 100 times a day and wipe. I couldnt understand what was going on, i thought she just didnt get the concept about going to the bathroom. It was a mess, i couldnt put her in underwear and this went on for over a year.
i flipped out alot of the time because i thought she was doing this on purpose.
After the doctor checked her he felt she was holding back and when he felt her tummy he could feel a bulge (from constipation):confused3 Actually what was happening all this time was "leakage" from around the constipated area and this she couldnt control. We put her on Miralax powder and the problem corrected itself within days. I now feel bad that this went on for so long and what i thought it was was the other way around. Who would have ever thought?? If you feel something isnt right usually you just know.

Absolutely! That's what my DS was diagnosed with, and he had the same problem ... he'd have accidents within 20 minutes of going to the toilet. He's now on medication, which has helped, but the dr suggested the timer before prescribing the meds. My DSs timer was initially set to go off every hour, and we're now up to an hour and a half with the meds. He still has occasional accidents, but it's much better than it was. You might need to set the timer more often than every two hours.

As long she'll go for it, I think the pullups are a great idea for traveling. My DS is very embarrassed by his bladder problems, and he'd be devastated if we used pullups during the day (he still wears a pullup every night). We had a miserable trip to Florida a year ago because I was doing laundry every other day, and that was with him having twice as many clothes with us as anyone else did. I trust that this year will be better with the timer and the meds. Things certainly are better at home than they were this time last year.

Up through her 7th birthday, dd still wet herself. We taught her to change her undies and clothes, and take the wet ones all the way to the laundry room. The pediatrician checked her out a couple of times (age 5 and again at age 6)...but found nothing wrong. Although we don't hear about it, it is NOT unusual for little ones to have daytime accidents even up to age 8. Several months past her 7th birthday, and I THINK dd has been staying dry suddenly. She DOES wear pullups to bed, and wets it most nights. The pediatrician did say that in families with a history of bedwetters (which in my family tends to last till age 12), daytime wetting can happen as well.

As for what to do at WDW, we just carried a small diaper bag. In it, we had extra undies, a ziplock for wet undies, and spare shorts. Also, a travel pack of clorox wipes (never know what you will want to wipe off) and a travel pack of Charmin flushable wipes. Then, we just had dd TRY to go each time someone else needed to...and asked every hour or 2. Many, many times, she tried and nothing...only to wet herself 30 minutes later.
