Quick question. Does WestJet offer a credit for a reduction in fares? While I normally wouldn't worry about this, my parents are flying down from YYZ for November. There fares were $159 each way and now one of the flights is $99 and if they switched to an earlier flight for their return they can also get $99. Their current return is $272. So currently the change in fares is negligible if they kept the same flights.

About 2 months ago WestJet had a promotion where if you purchased a flight and it went down after purchasing it you would get the money back or something. However since that has ended I would take the advice given by christiane.

I believe the only way to do it would be to cancel their current flights - receiving a credit minus any change fees, and rebook on the new lower cost flights. You most likely would be able to use the credit from the canceled flight toward the cost of the new flight.

I would just call West-Jet to see what they can do for you.

Yes - they will give you the credit. They keep it filed and you can redeem it at any time within a year. I've done it a couple of times and it has saved me money in the end - even with the $50 charge. And to redeem it was no problem. The only thing that was a little bit of a pain is that you have to wait on hold for a representative on the phone - which took about 20 min for me one time, but overall, they are incredibly easy to deal with. Now Air Canada on the other hand....

All they have to do is call the toll-free number on their e-ticket to change their flights and get a credit. The $50 change fee will apply (it's $50 plus tax per ticket, but I believe that if they're both on one e-ticket, they'll only have to pay the $50+tax change fee once). They can use or transfer the credit for up to one year from the date they change their flights.

I have to do this all the time for the company I work for - the owner and employees are forever changing flights LOL I think the WestJet call operators can recognize my voice now
