Westjet hasn't started their flights in to the US yet, they're just taking reservations for them.
They are one of the best airlines to work with. They really respect the customer, and will work with you to work out problems.
Having said that, their US flights are pretty sparsley spaced at the moment, and by that I mean that they don't have multiple flights a day to Orlando. One of the big carriers (the Sick Six as we call them) will have many flights during the day, so if there's a mechanical problem then you can be accommodated on another flight. When the airline only has one flight each day then that's a little more difficult to do. So yes, the possibility does exist that you could be stuck in an airport for while if there's a problem with the aircraft.
However I can't see Westjet staff not being pro-active and taking care of the customers, unlike Jetsgo.
Other differences between the two:
- Coffee and soft drinks are complimentary on Westjet flights, as are the little packages of cookies (or pretzels).
- You cannot pre-select your seat on Westjet, all seats are assigned at the airport upon arrival. So if you're very particular about where you sit, either book another airline or arrive at the airport early (like I usually do) to assure you get something close to your seat preference.
- I find the flight crew, and the airport staff, to be much nicer on Westjet.
- Oh, and if you can manage to fly with just carryon luggage then you can use the self-checkin kiosks for Westjet. Jetsgo doesn't have those.
