We are flying westjet in September... what are the changes?
I got a smokin deal on WJ coming home from Orlando but will have to fly Delta on the way down![]()
The "Changes" that were announced yesterday regarding Mr. Durfy stepping down has NOTHING to do with the SW airline code share deals... this has been something that has been in the works for some time, and is partly the reason for the changes to their reservations systems this last year (making them the same as other airlines, allowing for code shares)
The announcement yesterday has not changed their service, or business practices... there are a lot of exciting things West Jet have been working on behind the scenes for years now.... code shares etc. take a long time to finalize and bring to fruition... the "reward program" is one of the first steps... there are many more coming!
Good on you! Delta has had some surprising prices over the last while. My sister got a $419 (or close to this) return fare last Dec 21-30. It wasn't a last minute deal either- I think she booked in September.
It seems the seat sales lately are just to fill up empty seats through May and June. I'll be looking for deals after the summer travel rush for our November dates.![]()
we are going down in April and I got westjet down for $79 Calgary to orlando,![]()

We will be using Airmiles with Visa. BUT the thing that gets to me, is when I google the ways to get there from Sask, the flights are bizarre. I mean for some, I am flying to Calgary, then to Toronto and then to Orlando or from Calgary to Denver etc. I do not like flying so getting from point A to B with the least amount of flying is what I look forI won't fly Air Canada. So, hope they can put me on West Jet to some location in the USA. Has anyone flown Virgin airlines and if so, what was that like?
I would love to fly WestJet to MCO but this is the biggest problem with them when flying from YQR (Regina) - scheduling. Their scheduling will either take you to Calgary or Toronto and then have a 5 or 6 hour layover. Sometimes their flights are next day, in other words, arrive in Toronto at 10PM and leave the next day at 7AM. I can get on a Delta or United flight early in the morning and be at checked into my resort by late afternoon.
If or When their scheduling starts working out better then I would certainly consider flying with them.
I feel exactly the same way! We fly out of Edmonton and until WJ can match the convenience, we'll continue flying United through Denver to Orlando. Get up early, 2 and a bit hours to Denver, 1 hour layover (grab pizza), hop the next jet, and 5 hours or so later, you're checking into your resort.![]()
we are from edmonton and even with driving down to calgary paying to store the car it still was way cheaper
our total round trip for 4 of us was $1038 going on westjet nonstop and coming back on AC stoping in TO
we used to live in Fort St john so we are used to having to drive to go anywhere (you notice we measure it in hours not Km)
