Please tell me what I need to know! Are the amenities at the resort available to everyone? Is there housekeeping?

Looking at the one in Orlando .

Not sure which Westgate property you are inquiring specifically about at, but we stayed at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa in August 2012.

Our discounted stay was booked directly with the resort but required attendance at a resort preview (aka sales presentation.....which was AWFUL and went well beyond the initial 90 minute commitment). We did receive free daily housekeeping.

All the amenities were not open to guests. Things like use of the pools were included at no additional fee, but paddle boats, mini golf, etc. were an extra charge. You could purchase an activities pass for the week which included access to those amenities. They provided one to our family for free as part of our discounted stay.

Wow, so there is a presentation?

Some discounted stays will require that you attend a presentation.

Other stays will NOT require that you attend a resort preview/sales meeting, but they will still push you to do so. And when I say PUSH, I mean harrass, cajole, hound and chip away at you until you do agree to a "90 minute" commitment. If your stay doesn't require that you attend a presentation, just SAY NO. And stick to your guns.

The Westgate sales people are by far some of the sleaziest and least trustworthy of the bunch.

I'm interested in this as well. We are headed to Anna Maria Island in June and were considering stopping off at Disney for a 2 night stay/1 day at the parks afterwards but can't stomach the cost of 1 day park admission. (We need 2 adult and 2 child tickets which is upwards of $400 for 1 day!) Westgate has a deal where you get 2 nights plus 2 Disney tickets for $139 (plus we would need 2 additional tickets) which brings the total to $336.44 for a 2 night stay including park tickets. This seems too good to be true considering 1 day park admission alone is over $400 for our family. Anyone know if this deal is legit? Are we required to attend a high pressure time share presentation? TIA.

Almost 100% certain this is a yes.

We took advantage of a similar deal (except we didn't want/need tickets, so we got a deeply discounted lodging stay with amenity passes instead), and a timeshare presentation was a requirement of the offer. Its VERY high pressure, its VERY lengthy (plan 3-4 hours), and when we were done (passed through 4 levels of "escalations" where the lies grew larger and the price grew smaller) they left us stranded on the opposite side of the HUGE resort with no access to our vehicle (which was on the opposite side of the property, at the restaurant where we started the "resort preview). It was over 100 degrees in August, and an employee with a golf cart took pity on us part way en route on foot, and scooted us back to the parking lot.

We had a week of relaxing at the resort in a two bedroom, two bathroom villa overlooking the lake with free amenity passes (paddle boats, mini golf, etc.) for $69 a night. It was worth the 4 hours of torture. For a 2 night stay, I personally would say NO WAY.

Thanks so much for your reply, Gina. Looking at their website, it looks like both husband and wife are required to attend the presentation? So this means we would have to bring our 8, 4, and 2 year olds with?! I can't imagine them sitting through that for 4 hours!

Yes, both spouses must attend. We saw lots of entire families there....we felt so bad for the little ones! We left our teenager sleeping in the villa....lucky kid ::yes:: .

I stayed at the westgate seasons two years ago. We stayed for about two weeks. I attended no sales meeting and had no pressure during any part of my stay to buy or do anything.

I saw no evidence that anyone else was doing a sale pitch meeting thing either.

I don't remember what we paid per night but it was very cheap. The place was clean and we had no issues.

It was farther away from orlando from Disney than the other westgate resorts though.
