There are several Westgate properties in the Orlando area. I'm guessing you are referring to the Westgate Vacation Villas. I've stayed at Westgate Town Center three times ('01 the first time and '11 the most recent). The Vacation Villas and Town Center are connected and at the time we last traveled you checked in to the same place. The Town Center area is the newer section. Each visit we have walked around the Villas area and one of the times we were abel to walk through a 3 BR suite. The Villas are significantly older and were showing their age even the first time we went in 2001. The Town Center rooms are significantly nicer, brighter and spacious.
Positives:
Villas are big.
Jacuzzi Tubs in villas.
Great location to get to the parks.
Lots of pools.
Washer/dryer in villa (at least in the Town Center)
Negatives:
Old/run down (Villa Section)
Lots of extra charges on activities.
Although there are lots of pools, they are very basic pools.
Very High Pressure and aggressive sales staff. STAY AWAY... we were all but forced into a presentation 2 out of the three stays... and that's even with us knowing how the game works. The third time I arrived at 2 am and I think the check in people were just too tired to try.
Every time we've stayed there it's simply because I found a price I just could not say no. Even with that, I decided after our '11 stay we are done. There are so many better options (like Sheraton Vistana, Holiday Inn Orange Lake, Wyndham Bonnet Creeek, Marriott Grande Vista), even if we have to spend more, I'll take it.
Now, things have maybe changed over the past 5 years, but that's our experience.
