We just returned from a two week stay in a 3 bdrm at Westgate Town Center. I wish I could say I loved it, but I can't!

Positives: I like the set up of the 3 bdrm, walking into a common entrance, and have the A and B sides. The room is very spacious and large. Everyone had their own space.
- Beds were comfortable
- More towels, shampoos, dish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, supplies then most timeshare resorts
- Price, we rented from a relative, that wasn't using it, so we couldn't complain about it.
-Tons of pools, hot tubs

Negatives:
_ we were in 5400 building, and it was tired, old, and just in general run down.
- we had numerous things that didn't work, like microwave, coffee pot, and so on.
- The pools were cold, the first few days,it was chilly in Florida, but the pools seemed cold.
- NOISE, my biggest issue. None of us slept on vacation. My kids were in the 2 dbl beds and the cleaning staff would start running their carts down the hallway and wake them up.
-we were on the 4th floor, out of 6. We could hear people running on the floor, jumping, pulling chairs, and not just a little bit, it was loud. I was awoken at 6:30 am most mornings. Which would be fine, if I wanted to be up.
- No soundproofing. I could hear people peeing in the middle of the night, like it was right on my head. Flushing was loud and felt like a waterfall was coming down on my head in bed.
- We stayed for two weeks, we booked back to back weeks two different ressies. I clairified this at the front desk numerous times. We got locked out of our room the day the first ressie ended and the 2nd one started. Took us an hour to get into our room, in soaking wet bathing suits.
- Told me I would have my room cleaned on the Friday, we checked in on a Sat and they would clean it on the Friday, perfect because I had company coming to stay Friday night. Got back from the parks on Friday evening about an hour before our company came, and the room hadn't been touched. I had to call and ask for sheets and towels, so I could change the bed. Told us we were actually booked Monday for a cleaning. We went a whole 2 weeks without our room being cleaned at all.
- Last but not least is we killed not one, but two cockroaches in our bedroom. That didn't annoy me as badly as anything else.
_ Yes they did drive me nuts at check in about timeshare pitch. I very bluntly said I had no desire and didn't make the minimum income requirment. They left me alon after that.
- Friends of ours stayed in the same building on the 2nd floor, and opened up the nightstand by their bed, and there was a box of condoms int he drawer, one of them being opened.
Bottom line, we have stayed at numerous other places in the area, and this would be my last resort for me to stay. I came back more frustrated and tired then when I left. I really tried to keep and open mind and find the positives, but after returning home, said to my Hubby, that was not a fun vacation. I forget to mention, the 2nd week was spring break, and the young spring break crowd arrived they were in the pool til all hours of the night, (pool 13) I didn't complain cause that kind of noise doesn't bother me, unless it is really loud. Most nights, they were there til 1 am or so. The 2nd last night we were there, we decided to go have a later swim and drink at the pool and hot tub. At about 9:45 just nicely got in and the security came and closed it at 10 am. I wasn't happy about it, since it was the only night they did it. Wasn't an hour after we got out, there was about 20 people back in.

Any questions, ask away, I will try to answer as honestly as I can.

Hope this helps some others

So sorry to hear your stay didn't go as you had hoped. That's so discouraging. You encountered WAY too many issues on one single visit!!

Your stay sounds totally opposite to our experience last August at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. I was so hoping you would have as relaxing a getaway as we did.

Thanks guys! We had friends that my Aunt booked into the Lakes for the first week were there. (there was no 2 bdrms left at town center) they said besides the pools being cold (not sure if it was the weather that caused this, or they weren't heated hot enough) they loved it. We made the best of it. It was the lack of sleep that bothered me more then anything. It was so unbelievably hard to sleep because of all the noise. There can't be any soundproofing in the floor. I read a review on trip advisor that someone claiming to be able to hear people using the bathroom and I thought they were nuts, until I heard it myself. You could even tell if it was a stand up man pee and a women sit down pee. I just don't get how they haven't had more complaints. One couple above us had a dog for a few nights, so you could hear it bark, click, click click click accross the floor and back again!!! Me and no sleep equals a bear. Live and learn. Gina I would really like to hear how your stay at Vistana goes. I really like the looks and location of that resort. Have thought I would like to try it!

You bet....I hope to post a full trip report again when we get back :thumbsup2 .

I am going to request an upper unit to ensure we don't have a family of elephants tromping around above us. I would rather walk up some stairs every day then be kept up every night.

We also requested top floor. Just didnt get it. I am not a complainer at all and I probably should have pushed for resolves to some of the issues but I think I was at the point of frustration that I just wanted to get through the 2 weeks with as little disruption as possible.

Wow, talk about totally different experiences!:scared: We stayed in a one bedroom at Westgate Town Center in late Oct/early Nov. We never heard a sound once we were inside the room. The unit was very clean, everything worked well, and we never saw a bug. Pool and hot tub were both fine. We didn't have any problems with the time share pitch. I simply told them I wasn't buying a timeshare and refused to attend. The lady at the parking desk was very nice, said it wasn't a problem, and we never heard another word from them.

Sorry, you didn't have the same experience we did. This was our first time staying offsite and we enjoyed it so much that I came straight back, canceled my existing onsite reservation for my upcoming May trip, and booked again offsite (this time at Wyndham Bonnet Creek though).

What tower were you in aubiree? We had friends in 5700 on two different floor. I think 5 and 7. And friends in the 5900 bottom floor 1 bdrm deluxe. They were both far more updated. Granite counter tops but I will say the one room in the 5700 fifth floor their floors were squishy in parts. I forgot to mention we had to get a plunger 3 times in two weeks and the toilet ended up leaking all over the floor on of our last days as well. Maybe we just got a terrible unit. Luck of the draw?

I know the units at Westgate Lakes seemed to vary widely as far as updatedness and quality.

Ours was very good.....nice and clean, very spacious, a fantastic view, the interior not "old" but not newly updated either. A happy medium.

The unit we were shown on the timeshare tour was beautifully updated, substantially more modern and much, much newer than ours. But such a difference in square footage and location within the resort that I much prefered our unit over the sample unit.

Some pics people have posted on TripAdvisor show VERY outdated units, with similar problems such as greenclan's.

So yes ma'am, I think the unit you are assigned will have a huge influence on the quality of your stay!

Sorry you had a bad trip.

This has been our experience at various Westgate properties for some time now.

As former owners at Lakes and then just guests I could see the slow, steady decline of the quality of the rooms over the past decade+. Our unit hadn't been refurbished since at least 2000. How many people can say the same of their homes in 13 years? No new appliances, no new furnishings?

And unfortunately, management doesn't seem to care about customer complaints.

Never trust anyone who works for Westgate, If they are talking tthen they are lying.

We were sitting in sweet tomatoes our last day for lunch and the table across from us 3 westgate sales people cold calling people about buying in to their timeshare. We sat and listened to them for a little while and before we left my very quiet shy hubby went over and asked them if they worked for westgate and they said yes. He told them they better do some work to their resorts and units before calling people and proceeded to tell him with the problems we had. They wanted his name phone number resort room number. He just said town center and didnt give them his name cause they would have called us. But if you could have seen their faces it was priceless. My hubby wasnt once rude, loud or obnoxious. Just told him our issues. Of course they wanted to make it up to us. But we left.

hey only stay in Westgate because it accepts pets.

the only other place is Festival (use to be Celebration World Resort) - and it is in BIG trouble - new management came in and told the owners they needed to pay another $20000 to $30000 to kept their units....

Westgate does not care and never has.

found out that when was an owner and trying to sell it was a joke. Gave mind away to a charity - will never buy Westgate again - DVC treats their owners like guests.

westgate treated their owners - how much more money can we steal from you...

so sorry your trip was so awful

stayed at Sheraton Vistana Resort before its lateness update.

It was nice!!! Had guests actually using the stuff and having fun. Of course there was pool with a bar really close to my unit - so that may have something to do with why I loved it so much.
