Westgate Lakes ?

After the fiasco w/ trying to exchange our week through Westgate itself and them wanting 750.00 on top of the exchange fee just b/c of the seasons, I was looking at II. They have something at Westgate Lakes.

We have been there before, but I don't remember the details. The main thing I would be concerned about it the distance from DW. Westgate Villas is sooo close and easy to get to DW. What is the distance to Westgate Lakes and how is the traffic? I know it is close to Universal, does that cause any problems? Also, is it close to I-Drive? I want to stay away from there!!

It's on the other side of the Interstate from I-drive. Wonderful location for Universal. Not so much for Disney, though I wanted to try a route that runs parallel to the interstate and appeared to come out near Disney Marketplace. We tried it from the other direction but got on the wrong road somehow. Traffic on I-4 can be miserable, but with patience, you would probably only be adding an extra 30 minutes most days to the drive. Less in good traffic.

The Sand Lake/Turkey Lake intersection is very busy and should be avoided at rush hours.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a Disney vacation, but it would work. You could always "retrade" later if something better comes along. It would cost an extra exchange fee, but might be worth it.

okay you can no longer trade (or exchange) thru II with going thru Westgate.

that was my problem.

found embassy that was wonderful 3-bedroom and westgate cancelled it.

We stayed there in Dec '07. We found the drive to WDW to be a breeze, total of 15 minutes from Westgate Lakes parking lot to MK lot, slightly less for the other parks. As pp said, it is on the opposite side of I-4 from I-drive.

To WDW, turn right out of WGL and drive about a mile. Turn left and then an immediate right onto the ramp for I-4, WDW exits are a couple miles on your right. We went in mid-Dec and the traffic was non-existent on I-4 around 9:30 in the mornings to the parks. Easy back at night too.

Most folks bust hard on WGL, but we found it to be a wonderful place. We ignored repeated attempts to schedule "the meeting" and were basically left alone after the 3rd day. Very clean and comfortable, nice pools etc.

What do you mean about Westgate no longer trading through II? Westgate told me to check w/ II when I told them I wasn't paying the extra 750.00 to exchange my week and I talked w/ II last night and they didn't say anything about it.
