Thanks to everybodies previous posts about Westgate to help us navigate their system..... I went for 1 week courtesy of a relative who got suckered by them a few years back, so I could not complain about the price.
We arrived at about 6pm on Saturday, went to the front desk and got a slip of paper and was directed to the registration desk. During checking a leech was assigned to us, she gave us a can of cookies(actually pretty good) and asked us a bunch of personal questions(where are you from/blahblahblah), and directed us to follow her golf cart with our car back to our unit, gave us a pitch about how we were "owners".
Followed her back through the way to narrow streets and golf carts running everywhere. We were in a 2 bedroom on the 6th floor, units were nice enought, but look like they could use an update... very tacky interior, our door was loose and rattled, big screen tv is very dated looking, leather couch was at the end of its life. Our Host gave us the tour, explained where all stuff was, all the owner benefits, and then booked our "maintenance meeting" for wednesday am, I played along. Got rid of her, unloaded the car and unplugged the phones in the unit.
Was great to have a washer/dryer, and the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils... toaster and blender, etc. Room servicing came on Wednesday, no problems. Nice safe in the closet was big enough to hold a laptop. Plugged the phone in on Friday, was a bunch of messages waiting, one each day for resort events, then 2 reminding me that I "missed" the maintenance meeting. Got our express checkout slip on saturday AM on our door, there was the $5 Westgate Foundation donation on there.... so stopped at the main building, overheard people at the front desk fighting about their maintenance meeting that they had missed, they sounded pretty upset. Got into the registration line, everbody was there to argue about the $5 "donation", hopefully got mine removed but will watch the credit card bill because of their hokey accounting methods..will see.
Anyways was a decent place to stay, quiet enough, pools looked nice but did not get a chance to use them or any of the other onsite things.
Hopefully this is of use to someone else looking to stay here. Would be a very good deal for $500-600 for a week...
