hi - we were supposed to go on a 7 day western cruise fall 2003, but now my family wants to make it a disney only vacation - i don't want to take the kids out of school any more so i was wondering whether a summer cruise would be too hot - we want to go on the western cruise - would a july cruise be too hot - we're from jersey and september and early october in wdw is hot for us - thanks for your help

July is very, very hot. However, it shouldn't keep you from having a great time. Just wear light, natural fiber clothing, and be sure to keep hydrated by drinking lots of water...

It will definitely be very hot (we did the Western in late May last year and are doing it again this year, and it was pretty toasty). But we combat that by doing water-based activities or things in air-conditioning. For example, in Key West, hubby went snorkeling while I took the air-conditioned semi-sub. Then, instead of being outside for sunset, we watched it while enjoying dinner at Palo. In Grand Cayman, we did the city tour in air-conditioned vans before snorkeling with the stingrays in the ocean water. We did the jeep tour in Cozumel, which was breezy (although dusty!) and which includes a beach stop for a nice, refreshing dip. And of course on Castaway Cay, I spend all day in the ocean. If you are ghostly white like me, just remember to keep reapplying the sunscreen.

thanks - from what you're telling me - it's doable - i really want to try two cruises this year - so we're probably going to go for a 7-day this summer - kiddisney

We did the Western this past August and last week...I would definiatley choose August over January....it was hot but bearable. The January Western was very chilly.

There is always a breeze up on deck and on the beach excursions the water is always there to cool you off. Definately go in the summer.
