Has anyone heard anymore about the rumours that there will be a DVC resort themed to the Wild West between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness?!!! This sounds so much fun, I'm really hoping that it's true!!!

Also a rumour about a Californian themed DVC resort opposite Coronado Springs, but that dosen't excite me as much!!!
Debsx;)

There are reports that CMs are saying BLT will sell out next spring. (Personally, I think it's more likely to be second half of 2011). With construction typically taking 2-3 years, the timing will be right for them to start construction. I wouldn't be surprised if there was not an announcement until 2012 or 2013, so that they can make a push to try to sell out SSR/THV and AKV. From what I understand, there were denials of BLT being built even after many photos surfaced.

I hope the rumors of a Crockett Tavern along the lake are correct. I would really enjoy sitting in a rocking chair enjoy the lake view. One of my best memories was sitting in rocking chairs on the Crockett porch with family.

I really enjoy the location of the California one (walk to both DHS and Blizzard Beach). If I can walk to BB, Disney will have me spending more on a pass with water park access. I'll skip the resort pool and spend half my trip at BB.

I would love to see a DVC resort built at that location but a Western/Cowboy/Wilderness theme does not interest me at all.

Walk to both? That's quite a distance.

I have not really been a fan of the Western Theme resort option, but if it has some of the features that have been mentioned, I might open up to the idea.

Don't know that I will ever own there, I live close enough to those kinds of options, that I don't really desire them on my vacation!

There is a cowboy themed resort at DLRP and, although it is a value resort, it is quite fun and in fact one of my favourites. It might be quite good to have something similar at WDW. Kids would love it!!

I would really like it. On our last trip we rented a golf cart and spent the day exploring Fort Wilderness and really enjoyed it. Problem is I'm not a camper (even in a $250K motor home!) and we peeked in at the cabins and those don't appeal to me either. So a DVC in that location would be of great interest to me!

I think a super awesome western resort would be super cool.

My problem with purchasing a new resort, any new resort is that I'm not willing to pay $130 / point to purchase anywhere.

Since my family has enjoyed the FW cabins a bunch I know we would really welcome a DVC western style resort. It sounds like fun and being a boat ride away from MK is a big plus too.

I agree that a Western themed resort would be great..........especially for the boys, not a princess in sight!!! When we went to DLP we had a look around their version and my son was in his element exploring the tee pees, shooting from the back of a wagon....really great fun!!
Fingers crossed its not just a rumour!

The California theme is just too bland for me..............

I think the California theme has more broad appeal and can cater to all age groups. I think the western theme is awesome, but is mouch more limited in focus and appeal. The western theme might be cool for a few years, but I think most people would not want to do that every year for 50 years.

 and I didn't think I wanted to go to Africa every year...but alas we are headed back for our safari stay with our "pets" in 9 days. :santa:

I agree. I thought Hotel Cheyenne was a lot of fun.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the rumors of the western theme resort were about a DVC resort, but the rumors of a California theme resort were about a hotel.

Actually, there were denials of BLT being built after the building was completed and they were just working on furnishings. I believe that they announced it less than a year before sales began (3-6 months prior from what I remember but that might be off). There was a pretty strong opinion that it was DVC, but a lot of people were debating if there would a mixed use property with both hotel/dvc similar to some of the other resorts being built outside of WDW.

I wouldn't expect any announcements until they are nearly completed with the resort. They don't want to stall sales with people holding out for the "new" resort, so they won't disclose anything until they are ready (or everything is sold).

They announced it in September of 2008 (the 14th or 15th) and sales began to members in October 2008. The building was not complete in the slightest at that time - it was a long way from just needing furnishings finished when it was officially announced. The resort was finished earlier than planned, however, and it opened for guests officially on August 4, 2009.

Since it seems there is a project moving forward in the Ft Wilderness vicinity, I wouldn't be surprised to learn it's DVC, nor would I be surprised if they took their time announcing anything officially.
