Western Carribean and Passports

Also, was wondering if we should carry our passports off the ship for non-US ports.

Some opinions have already been given above.

Non-minors must have govt ID and the ship keycard to get off and on the ship (even at castaway). Some want their passport with them in case of emergency. Others are worried about theft while on the island and leave them on the ship.
