Did anyone watch West Wing last night? Just wondered if Donna was still alive. And did something happen to Leo? Had to miss the show last night to watch the Sox game. Thanks!

Donna is still alive, and I think she is going to be ok. Nothing has happened to Leo yet, but there is a pulling back and distance in the relation with the Pres. on the Pres' part, not Leo

Donna is still alive. She had more surgery to correct a blood clot in her lung.
Leo and Bartlett are disagreeing on Bartlett's response to the terror bombing. Bartlett is shuting him out of important meetings so as to present a united front.

When Donna finally came out of it only Josh was still there. Do you think the photographer realized that Josh loves her and left? I feel really sorry for Leo and interested in seeing what develops.

Thanks! I'd love to see Donna & Josh get together - finally! Hopefully the Sox will sweep the World Series and I'll be able to watch next week.

Can anyone explain what Leo was doing at the end? Did they bomb the camp? He couldn't do that with the president saying ok could he, or was it because of congress? I was watching both the game and WW and I think I missed some stuff!;)

I also hope that Josh and Donna end up together.

If they hold elections this season will they have to get a whole new cast?

Finially while I am happy for the Sox, I DO NOT want them to sweep! Go Cards!:teeth:

At the end, I kept waiting for Josh to say he loved her...UGH!! I was screaming at the TV!!

When the President got on the helicopter on his way to the summit, he gave Leo his OK to bomb the camp.

They held the elections 2 years ago--they are playing with real time. He is in the middle of his second term. The show is probably coming back next year, but who knows after that. They could redo the show with a whole new cast.

I want the Cards to win today too! And then beat the Sox.

Missy, are you sure? I didn't get that the president okayed the bombing at all. (A phone call came in right about this time however so I could've missed a minute or two) It seemed there was a huge division between Bartlett and the rest of the staff and Leo looked worried at the end. I wonder why the Def Sec'y or whomever is sending the troops wouldn't have to get that order directly from Bartlett. I was certainly under the impression that Leo was acting in opposition to Bartlett's wishes.

Okay, I love the show, really, but I am well aware that Martin Sheen is a huge, HUGE activist and Dem. He has spoken about how he has been passed over for roles because of his very outspoken activities and views. With that in mind, I wonder if this storyline, terrorists attacking US senators and the Senate Republican majority insisting the pres bomb, while Bartlett stands alone for PEACE and holding summits, isn't a Hollywood attempt to show how Bush COULD'VE done things differently IRL. I don't doubt for a second that Bartlett's plan for Peace will work and 'war' will be avoided. Admittedly, I recognize my own partisan view here but it follows just close enough to make the comparison imo. Am I nuts, lol?

Yes, Bartlett gave the go ahead, just before he got on Marine One. He told Leo to go ahead and bomb The Camp as soon as all the "guests" had landed at the peace treaty.

Why did he say o.k. to the bombing if he was going to the Peace conference?

Because they got proof to the President of terriorist activity.

Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda are being setup as Presidential candiadates. The ratings were down last year and Wells thinks a cast change might help. They are trying to get Sheen to come next season, for at least enough episodes to have an election through Nov sweeps.

Yup. I'm a Dem, and the show definatly leans left. Aaron Sorkin (the creator of the show and one of the main writers until recently) is a lefty too (I use "left" with respect by the way!) before he left the show (well, he was fired, really) and the whole show was set up that way, although they do show the Republican/Right Wing point of view often, as well.

I'm sure this whole situation on the show is to demonstrate how Bush could have handled Iraq (I think Bartlett made a crack about not attacking a country until there was proof of a terorist link). Of course, while I don't agree with what Bush did, hind sight is 20/20 and I think the writers need to get off their high horse a little. What's done is done, lets move on!

What do you think of the blond woman, I can't think of her name, who seems to be advising the president?

There is something about her that I just don't trust. She seems sneaky and I don't like the way she is pushing Leo out of the 'loop.'

I have been home for the past two weeks pretty sick and have been watching all the reruns on Bravo during the day and on Monday evenings. I was pretty excited about the new one last night. It always brings up interesting conversation between my Dh and I since we are pretty opposite when it comes to political views.

I'm still not for sure what to think about the new blond girl who kept throwing in her .02 but then again I would never be able to keep my mouth shut during that kind of situation either hehehehe.

I hope Josh and Donna finally get together too. His face when that other guy walked in and kissed Donna was priceless but when the first word out her mouth was "Josh" when she woke up was so sweet.

Tina

"The blonde girl", played by Mary McCormack, is Cmdr. Kate Harper, NSC Advisor Nancy McNally's assistant. She's basically replacing the incomparable Anna Deavere Smith, though I hope we do get to see her more. I don't think she's being sneaky, I just think it's the awful way the writers are portraying Leo. He, by the way, looked so awful this ep. I'm hoping that was all make-up.

I too think West Wing is headed for big changes this season.
I am a true romantic, and want Josh to tell Donna he loves her.
I mean really, what is he waiting for????? I don't like the way Leo is being portrayed either. I too wondered if he is in bad health, because he looked really bad. I am also really starting to miss Sam. Just doesn't seem the same without him. I saw a clip somewhere about Toby turning in his resignation, but they did not get that far last night. Martin Sheen's character was kind of grating last night. His character is not at all the same as he used to be. I can't wait to see the next few weeks to see what happens next. I wondered how the show was going to continue since Pres. Bartlett's term is half-way over. A new cast would make sense. This could give them another eight years. Now that would be an original.

They are bringing in Alan Alda to run as the Republican challenger, so I think it's quite possible that they are setting up the show for the departure of Martin Sheen.

Last night's episode was definitely political, timed for a highly charged season. The writers know their audience and were playing to them.
