Not sure if this has been discussed:

West Jet starts flying to Orlando on October 1st. I plugged in the dates of Oct 1 to Oct 3. It's $59 each way and then taxes. So it's about $250 return. Which is pretty good from Toronto.
Just thought I would share this with you. If you plug in further dates in Oct the price increases.

Thanks for the information. I live in Halifax and just plugged in the dates for October and same thing....$59.00 one way!! What a deal for us Maritimers. It comes to $267.00 Canadian return. We are going in March but actually am contemplating a quick trip in October.

Wow! I'll have to keep them in mind for our next trip since we already have tickets for this one.

Just keep in mind that the low fares are only available for purchase until July 12, and good (for most routes) for travel until December 15. After that the fares go up by $100 or so each way.

Still, when I priced it compared to AC it came out to about $100 less in total. I'm guessing that AC will restructure their fares on the same routes to match though, sooner or later.

Oh, and there's a limited number of seats on each flight available at the sale price. I had a heck of a time purchasing seats about 2 weeks ago for LA, trying to coordinate with 2 different departure cities. I'd get one flight booked, and then suddenly there weren't any sale fares left on the other one. Very frustrating. Finally got it worked out, for 3 days later than the departure dates we wanted.

And from some cities the routing is a little funny. If you want to fly from Winnipeg to Orlando for instance, on the way out it'll route you through Calgary (opposite direction) and require an overnight in Calgary, although it will put you through Toronto on the way back.

And finally, since these are still experimental flights for Westjet remember that not all routes operate every day, some of them only go once or twice a week right now.

Could have saved myself almost $400 for my family by going West Jet and leaving and returning on the Saturday instead of the Friday.... sigh... oh well... at least we are going  :hyper:

I'll still try London to Detroit to Orlando. It was cheaper this year and I hate going to TO for flights.

We're flying this Dec and have booked on Spirit out of DTW. Our flights cost just over Cdn$1400 for the four of us. (And that includes flying business class on the return leg.) I just plugged the same dates into Air Canada's web site and came up with $2137 for the same flight times. WestJet was only about $1250 out of YYZ, but they don't have a flight on our proposed departure date. And both AC and WJ were economy class each way.

The driving time is almost the same (DTW is about 20-25 minutes further from our house) and we have already cleared customs at the border rather than having to deal with it at the airport.

I thought I was being soooo smart booking back in May for a rate of 145 one way on AC with a changeover in TO. GRRRRR! My dates are available with West Jet too with direct flights from Halifax!
We would have only saved a little over 700 for the 4 of us and although I would have been none the richer, it would have paid for a couple of Hopper tics.

Great deals with travelocity.ca out of Buffalo. Right now the last week of August is 645.00 for 4 adults taxes included...WOW

Too Bad! Didn't realize they flew out of TO to MCO. We booked our flights for November out of Flint, MI - cost us $650.00 CA for two - WestJet would have saved us about $150.00 CA. But flying out of Flint we get our "day before shopping trip" to Frankenmuth and we definitely like the airport at Flint much better than TO. 2 hour driving time for us either way. Plus we have dealt with the border in Sarnia - we liked that alot. Maybe on our trip next year we will have to do a little more investigating for good prices.

We just got a great deal with west Jet for Boxing Day. thanks for the heads up about West Jet flying to Florida.

Thanks very much for the info!

I would say this will definitely save me some cash!

I have a question: Do you think they would add more daily flights?

Our date out (Sat) only leaves at 3:30 pm - would much rather have an early morning flight.

Coming back is not a problem - leaves MCO at 1:30.

Personally, I think what you see is what you get. Who knows though, maybe they'll have a demand for more flights!
