Hello everyone!

My honeymoon is coming up this May and I have reservations for a week at the Yacht Club, costing about 2,000 bucks. My dad is an owner of the largest condo they offer at West Gake Lakes, and he offered to send us there instead of to the Yacht Club, saving us the bucks. I have been there several times before, so any stories about it not being so great...that isnt a reason for me because ive had a great time there everytime ive been. Never stayed onsite except once when we stayed at the AS Sprots. Im so torn about what to do--we were going to rent a car anyway, so the cost in that isnt a factor...what would you do? Any suggestions?

Stay onsite. Forget the car.
Let everyone at WDW know you are on your honeymoon, especially when you make your reservations and again at check-in.
Don't scrimp on a one-in-a-lifetime (hopefully!) event.
We honeymooned at the Boardwalk on the Honeymoon Grand Plan and it was SO great.
Look into the Honeymoon Package...big $$ but SOOO worth it.

Hi mineebaby,
If you can afford the disney resorts, any of them, then go for it, I know west gate is nice but disney is magical, romantic, and unique if I may say.
The Yacht Club pool and beach are the best of all disney resorts.
Let them know you are on your honeymoon they like honeymooners, and you will have special memories about it.
You can use your dad's condo for your anniversary ;)
Congratulations

You could split your stay between the two resorts. I would end your honeymoon at the Yacht Club, it would be hard to leave that resort and go elsewhere.

It's your honeymoon, spend the money to stay onsite and to enjoy the Disney "magic". As suggested, do let them know it's your honeymoon when making the reservation. :)

I think it depends on how much your wedding is going to cost.

I've always pictured myself having a civil wedding with only a few witnesses, not a big church wedding or anything like that, and spend my money on my honeymoon.

Look at it this way, the less you have to spend for your wedding the more you'll get to spend on a honeymoon :)

Please let us know what you decide to do.

BTW, Congrats!

It really sounds like a win/win situation either way. I think it boils down to how much you need the $2000 you'd save by taking the condo over staying on the property at WDW. If you need to save money for buying a house, etc. the 2k would be a nice start towards that. If you had to put the $2K on your credit cards then I'd definitely take the condo. You've said you've always enjoyed the west gate lakes so no reason you wouldn't this time. Staying there would free up a lot of spending money if nothing else. However if money is less of a consideration then I'd stay on the property cause why not? I've only stayed on property once and it was nice but I my ability to feel the "magic" is inversely proportional to how much money I'm spending :smooth:

Congrats! and Enjoy!

I would definitely choose the YC! :) I've stayed at Westgate Lakes and it is nice, but YC is about a million times better! :) No comparison.

Wow! Well geeze! Hahaha! I guess there is no competition between the two of them! :) Thanks so much for all of your input! Ill let everyone know what we decide to do once we figure it out here..still have to talk to my fiance about it. :) Thanks everyone!!
