West Coast -- think they'll be booked by 5/15?

I'm thinking about doing a west coast cruise next year, but I'd really love to book it on board and get the extra savings. Do you think they'll be sold out by the time we sail next week??

You could always book (through DCL) before you leave, then check while you're on board. If what you want is still available, you could cancel the first booking and rebook it while you're there. If you book the first one through DCL, Donna (the DCL sales manager on the Magic) should be able to cancel it for you as you rebook. We rebooked while on board two weeks ago and found her to be very helpful.

NYDisneyMom - Think Insurance. I filled out the DU quote form but am also cruising next week. When on board I plan on booking as well. Whichever one comes in cheaper is the one I will keep. Make sense??? - Mike

My guess is actually no. I remember when the 10 day cruise was announced and there was a flurry of people saying that you had to book it the minute it opened in order to get a room on board. Well, here we are... how many months later? There is still availability.

I think these cruises will be priced at a premium and there are 12 of them. Of course, I could be wrong and they could sell out immediately but I don't think so. You could always call and ask what availability is looking like on the cruise that you want.

thanks..you guys are so smart! Anyone have a guess at what the prices will be as compared to the reg. Magic 7 days? I'm thinking they'll be higher, but hopefully not too much higher. Flying to CA instead of Orlando is going to add a bit onto our cost as it is.

It will take months and months for DCL to sell out these cruises.

Remember, we are the exceptions. We are DCL fanatics. The rest of the world is not like us. Millions and millions of people won't give a hoot about where the Magic is next summer. In addition, I'd bet any increase in cruise interest on the west coast will be offset by a decrease on the east coast.

Overall, I think the speed at which Disney sells out these dates will be only a smidgen quicker than the Carribean 7-days., if at all.

Now, the 14 day Panama trips may go like hot cakes....

We'll see.

There is also the possibility that the repo cruises as well as the CA cruises won't be available for onboard booking discounts!! I have not heard any rumors or info to suggests this, just a thought I had!?!

with Lisa too.
12 weeks of cruises sold out in 10 days, unimaginable. Or as DD would say "KimPossible". :yo-yo:

And as Kelley said, we're the exception. I took a peek at the DISneyland board this morning (yeah, I know, it's not a cruise board) and there was only one thread that mentioned the Magic being in CA. One. Everyone over there seemed more excited about the ToT (sorry to the other board, but BTDT @ MGM).

Now tomorrow may be a little  !!

I tend to agree as well that the cruises won't sell out within a week. Think math, there are 850+ staterooms on every ship, times 12 sailings. If we assume that, then there's over 10,200 reservations available. And that's not including the "repo" cruises, adding another 1750 bookings.

Hmmm, "repo" cruises, I wonder how that works? They take your memories back as you disembark? lol.

The fact that the 10-day cruise hasn't sold out is another indicator.

I know I'm counting on that, don't want to miss out on local sailings!!

Well that would be misleading advertising on their Navigators if this were not true. The current Navigator reads "10% off of a 7 night cruise plus $200 Onboard Credit" No where does it mention any restrictions. - Mike
Ah, but what does the Navigator THIS WEEK on the Magic & Wonder say? Is i5 possible they now read "7 night CARRIBEAN cruise"?

If DCL starts to take bookings tomorrow, then folks onboard either ship tomorrow will be able to book the summer 2005 itineraries too ... so we should know immediately if the 10% discount and $200 stateroom credit will apply to the CA bookings or not.

BTW, what do you think the mood will be like tomorrow on the Magic once it's "official" she's moving to CA next summer? Do you think the guests will revolt or celebrate??

I agree -They could change it. I hope they don't until I cruise next week. - Mike

I agree that the cruises probably will not sell out quickly. What will probably happen is that the lowest priced categories will sell out first as well as category 1 and 2. I am sure that the categories left will take awhile.
Even with all of the excitement many people will have to take a step back after getting the initial quote and look at the economics of it.
I know for me, I have a amount in my mind basically how much I will be willing to pay. If it is more than that I will have to take a step back and reassess the situation.

TA just told me that it's her understanding that DCL will NOT be offering the 10% discount & $200 stateroom credit for the repositioning or Mexican Riviera cruises. Dunno how true that will end up being....

I'm hoping the CA cruises don't sell out, and I agree w/the post that said 'we are the exceptions, most people don't care if the Magic sails from CA." What percentage of DCL cruisers ACTUALLY read and post on these boards? (I don't think very many. We are the fortunate few.:D )

I have faith and confidence that most of us will be able to secure the bookings for which we're hoping. (On the seven-day itins, anyway.)

I rebooked onboard in February with the understanding that I was planning on transferring my reservation to the summer. Donna the onboard booking agent "did not know" if I could also transfer my onboard discounts, "that it only applied to the current Carribean cruises". When I got home, I sent an email to DCL with my feelings about the whole "did not know" thing, and they emailed me to call them. Long story short, I have been assured that my discounts will be applicable to the summer 2005 transfer reservation. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed!

The cruises will certainly sell like hot cakes! Dont forget, there are almost 1000 Crew on board - many of whom have their families visit for a vacation. Naturally, they also will be watching out for different destinations, having done the Eastern and Western before. However, there will be NO CM DISCOUNTS available for these cruises for such guests, as they will easily sell all the cabins at the normal rates, and therefore no cheap cruises will be offered. What a pity for us!Nat:Pinkbounc

Hi Everybody,

I just stumbled across this site last week. I have to agree that you guys (and myself) are DCL fanatics. But I haven't seen this level of interest in the cruises on any other discussion boards. I'm glad I came here because this is where I first heard about the California cruises and immediately put in my reservation request with DU. And hopefully I'll be cruising on the CA to FL repositioning cruise with lots of you.

That said, I'm hoping I'm not in sticker shock and that the prices weren't underestimated too badly. I have an amount I'm willing to spend, above that we'll have to re-evaluate things. I have a feeling that will happen with a lot of people.

Either way, I look forward to talking with you on these boards.

Mike

Hi Robin,
You don't know how happy I am to read this. We also were told the "I don't know" thing. I don't think I'll be able to talk my DH into a May 2005 Repostitioning and a Dec 2005 Eastern Carribean, but I didn't want to give up that discount and stateroom credit.

Phew!!!
