For the First Time ever Disneyland is Plans to be built in Canada.

This Would be the Plan After Shanghai Disneyland Opens somewhere between 2015 and 2016.

This would be in Delta, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

West Coast Disneyland will feature Most New Disney Attractions, and Some Classic Attractions.

The Castle will be Sleeping Beauty's Castle from Disneyland Paris.

There have been rumours for years about this happening somewhere here, anywhere from Surrey to Abbotsford.
So do you have anything concrete? It sure would be nice, but I've given up believing it.

As fun as that would be for travel purposes, the weather really doesn't cooperate with a themepark. It's just not FUN to walk around a themepark 10 hours a day when it's 50 degrees or grey and drizzly all day long.

Then again, given how incredibly polluted Shanghai is, I seriously question Disney's decision to make a park there. Not pleasant to walk around when you have to wear a filter mask.

this is the first time i have heard this.. i don't think it will every happen well at least not in the Vancouver area. not alot of space to but a theme park

I remember hearing talks about a major mall near the ferry terminals. There are talks about building a bridge(s) to relieve the tunnel gridlock. However sewage and infrastructure were issues even for some condos going up in the area. Is this the future Disney site???

I don't believe this for even ONE second. No way Disney is building a theme park in Canada. (Don't be offended, there's no way they build another one anywhere in North America....it would siphon people away from the existing Disney Parks - what sense would that possibly make?)

I agree. I live in western Canada and see no reason that this would be a good idea. I think that very few US citizens would give up Disney World or Disneyland to try a version of Disney in Canada. Also, Vancouver is only a short flight from Los Angeles, so I don't see a need for two parks to be so close together. The cost savings for me to drive to such a park, would at least entice me to try it out, but I don't think there is a need for this type of park, especially on the west coast of Canada, where there is not a lot of population to support it.

The population of all of Canada is around 35 million -- but most of those people live thousands of miles to the east in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The entire province of British Columbia has a population of less than 5 million.

In comparison, the population of just Texas is around 26 million (and growing rapidly). Add the surrounding states, and the number becomes much bigger. Texas has major airports with some of the best nonstop service in North America. Texas is also well-positioned for visitors from Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America. Yet Disney is not building a Disney park-and-resort complex in Texas.

And then there's the matter of climate. Although the city of Vancouver has a mild climate compared to much of Canada, it's certainly not like Anaheim or Orlando (or even the population centers of Texas).

But the big reason that Vancouver is extremely unlikely is that there's already a major Disney park-and-resort complex on the West Coast. It's around a thousand miles south of Vancouver, and it's called the Disneyland Resort.

Shanghai is one of the largest cities in the world (over 20M people within the city limits alone), and is the epicenter of the largest country in the world (1.4B people). Additionally, Disney is incredibly popular throughout most of Asia. The decision to build a park there was a no-brainier. It may not have much appeal to many within the U.S., but we're not the intended target market.

To the OP with 5 posts under his/her belt... Canada's population is 35M total, most of which doesn't live anywhere near BC. The weather isn't close to being suitable for a 365 day park. There's no chance of this happening, ever.

The OPs post is simply bizarre. And makes no sense whatsoever. But not dissimilar to the other threads s/he has started thus far. With no references to back up these very strange claims.

Could there be someone out there who is already bored on their holiday break?

All excellent points!

This is just a rumor and a old one at that.

That, and the middle class (folks with money to spend) in the Asia Pacific area is bigger than the whole of the US and is only getting bigger. If Disney were to ever endorse another theme park it would be in the Far East. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Beijing were to get one.

Agree that Canada will never happen, but something situated in between Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio still seems quite plausible. It really depends on whether they intend to continue expanding park capacity in LBV and Anaheim or not.

The Florida parks seem pretty close to saturation now. Not always at their maximum attendance, but at peak capacity for what the guest will tolerate ($90 for a very crowded theme park with five rides- DHS- anyone?)

It would be interesting to really know the top-executive level 30 year horizon master plan for TWDC. Assuming that there is one...

I can remember this rumor floating around when I was a kid in the 1990s. Not gonna happen :(

Although I DID just do a survey for Great Wolf Lodge and they were asking questions about people's thoughts about opening one near Vancouver - so no Mouse for us but maybe a Wolf will appear one day?

THAT'S the market I keep waiting for Disney to enter. A combination Great Wolf Lodge/Disneyquest/indoor theme park in the Northeast & Chicago is a no brainer to me!

A Great Wolf lodge in Delta? That would be an excellent idea!! But a Disneyland type park? Never ever ever in a million friggin' years!! Nope.....
