Hubby & I are thinking of going for 2 weeks in August 2008 instead of 1 week in March! He thinks that the crowds will be smaller and the lines won't be as long, is this a good idea? We would be staying on site and I LOVE the idea of going for 2 weeks ;) What'd y'all think?

From my understanding, once you get past the middle of August the crowds diminish due to the opening of schools. I also believe the park hours are reduced at that point to reflect the lower attendance.

The one thing you will have to keep in mind is the very hot and humid weather. Also a consideration is that August puts you in the hurricane season.

Can't mention hot enough!!! While the crowds were smaller, the heat killed. I would rather wait an extra 10-15 minutes than to deal with the heat, which is very humid.

We go quite often during the third and fourth week of August. Hot? Yes. But, the crowds drop off as the end of the month approaches.

I have gone in August for 2 weeks a few times, it is very VERY hot and it rains pretty well every day around 1-3pm

Having said that, the crowds were really good which made things really enjoyable, and the rain is predictable so we would have our lunch or a little nap during this time of the day and then go back out in the evening when it was nice again.
