We're staying an extra day!? What should we do?

So, last night we discovered that our flight had changed days. Our plane, which was supposed to leave on Sunday, April 13th, is now leaving on Monday, April 14th.

I called Disney to extend our stay by a day, and was rather shocked at the price. Apparently the 13th is a blackout date for everything. No discounts. It's rack rate or nothing. Ouch.

Which then got me wondering about the predicted crowds...

Yep, it's a NINE!

And we thought 7/8 was bad! :scared:

So... my question is, what would be your recommendations for making the most of a crowd level nine day? EasyWDW recommends Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

But it's still going to be wall-to-wall people, I expect, so what are your tips and tricks for dealing with that kind of thing?

Suggestions?

Maybe skip the parks and just hit the pool, mini golf, Downtown Disney, ride the monorail, visit some resorts. Thats one thing we really enjoy about Disney World, there are a lot of things other than the parks you can do.

Wouldn't the water parks also be crowded? :crowded: My husband hates swimming, so one of my goals this trip was to get him into the water. But I was planning it for a morning, earlier in the week.

And are they done rebuilding Downtown Disney?

I do like the idea of checking out the resorts... we've never been to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Maybe I should make a lunch reservation there!

Even on a 9 day, they probably won't be that bad until 11. If you are already buying tickets for more than 5 days, adding a day won't cost much. I would go do a park for a few hours in the morning (we like to pick our favorite park and everyone pick their most favorite ride). Then I would go swim and to mini golf or to do shopping at DTD. Then you can decide if you want to go back at night, late.

We actually have annual passes, so park tickets are no problem for us.

How is the mini golf? We've never tried it, so I'm definitely curious.

I was actually thinking about the resort pool. I think you are right that the water parks would be too crowded as well.
Downtown Disney is open and operating! There is just a bunch of construction going on. You could go see a movie, go bowling, window shopping, go to DisneyQuest
Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful. We've never stayed there but had dinner one night. You can check out the animals in the savannas in the back of the hotel.
