We're sitting here waiting for Tropical Storm Hannah to come ashore!

What are y'all doing? The TS is due to make landfall between here and Mobile about sun-up. We've had rain off and on today from the feeder bands. Since it is not expected to become a Hurricane, we should get lots of rain and some winds. Hopefully it will not get too bad.
Our DgrD's 9th b'day is tomorrow. They have cancelled her party. She'll have it instead in 2 weeks.
Should be a long night of watching the updates.

We're suppose to get some rain from Hannah Sunday in Ct. Wednesday we had alot of high winds from Gustav, knocked out power in alot of towns.

I'll be watching the weather, keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. We've experienced a few good storms and hurricanes, but to a much lesser degree than what Florida gets hit with, and I do remember those all-nighters watching for updates...and mopping up the basement. Please keep us posted. Stay safe...we're looking forward to seeing you again in WDW someday!!

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone. Things are calm right now. It is moving very slowly. No rain or wind just now. Holding our breath & waiting. It gets to the point that we just want it to come on and get it over with. The longer it stays in the water, the stronger it gets.

You're so right TH! Been there, done that - lot's of times. In '95 P'cola & P'cola Beach were hit by Hurricane Erin in Aug. & Hurricane Opal in Oct. Not fun!!

Princess Em will love the b'day wish from you. You haven't missed the new one. HE is due Jan. 20th. DD, SiL & little sister found our Tue that it is a he. We're very excited about having a grandson this time. Can't wait for another g'child to spoil & take to WDW! I'll keep you posted.

Poohstyx remember that the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew was Aug 24. We had the big one here and my house was right in the middle of it.
I was out of town for the storm but came back to devastation. Only good thing that came out of that Hurricane is it got me back to ASL and on the road to interpreting.

TH, I do remember how awful Andrew was for South Florida.

Hurricane Danny was in Mobile Bay in '97. We were in Denver at the time - nice place to be when a Hurricane is in this area. I kept calling DD & SiL to see what was happening & I got the same answer - nothing new, Danny just sat in Mobile Bay for about 3 days & actually sucked the water right out of the Bay!
Hurricane Camille hit the Biloxi area really hard in '69. Hurricane Frederick came through in '79. We have been in & around way too many of these.

TS Hanna has not come ashore yet - it is due in a couple of hours. They keep changing the time and track. We will be on the east side as it comes in. Not the best side to be on. We have the constant weather reports on our local channels. They are showing video of P'cola beach - not pretty. I really feel sorry for the weather people who have to be out there reporting. We are having lots of rain and a little wind right now. That will change real soon.

Amanda, looks like it may head in your directon after it makes landfall. Hope you get the rain you need, but none of the really bad stuff.

DD and I stayed in PB and Destin area last April and loved it. It was a reall thrill for us northerners to see the Gulf.

We want to go back.

Herc - Glad you liked the area, we think our beaches are beautiful. April was a great time to be here. Do you plan a return visit?
You should see the reports from the beaches now. The visitors love it. It always amazes us that the surfers live for the Hurricanes, so they can get the good waves. We normally don't have much surf around here. The poor weather reporters can barely hang on for their reports and there are surfers in the background - in the water, having a great time.

They are starting to show the damage at the beaches now. TS Hanna is just now coming on shore between here & Mobile. Dauphine Island seems to be the area of landfall. We just have rain & some wind at this time - but, both are increasing.
