Tootsie Roll:

tr_toots_long.jpg
As the iconic treat that launched America’s favorite candy company, Tootsie Roll, offers a perfectly-balanced cocoa taste, lined with a subtle, fruit-flavored undertone—all incorporated into a delicious treat.

The Tootsie Roll story began in 1896, when Austrian-born Leo Hirshfield opened a tiny candy shop in New York City. Taking full advantage of his confectioner’s background, Hirshfield personally blended, cooked, and peddled a variety of products, including an individually wrapped, oblong, chewy, chocolate candy that quickly became a customer favorite. Sold at a penny apiece and affectionately named after Hirshfield’s five-year old daughter, Clara, whose nickname was “Tootsie,” Tootsie Rolls propelled Hirshfield’s modest corner store into a burgeoning candy enterprise that has evolved in little more than a century into the multinational corporation, Tootsie Roll Industries

polineedyan sings gleefully in the background..."It's a world of laughter, a world, of tears..":rolleyes1

tootsie rolls.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

you'll have to buy some when you next go to disney....they're chocolate flavoured and sort of toffeeish...but not exactly....

can't describe them, but they're yummmy.....

I've said it earlier....

This is VERY VERY different.

And we are done recording.

Later folks.

Me too! ;)

Ohhh I like these 'whist recording' threads!

My parents got back from Canada 2 weeks ago, bringing with them 2 (fairly large) bags of Reeses Pieces and a bag of tootsie rolls, the pieces are all gone (at 40 calories PER PIECE!!!) and the Tootsie rolls are following suit...

Yum Yum American Candy!

that's why i stopped asking relatives to bring that stuff...

all that happens is i end up eating the entire bag the same day i open it...

so now i wait until we're in the states, to indulge....mmmmmmmmm.....

Tootsie rolls (sorry my spelling is beyond terrible and bad google chrome didn't pick it up!) according to Wikipedia are: 'chewy candies, manufactured from an ersatz form of chocolate, that have been manufactured in the United States since 1896. They are one of the best-selling candies in the world.'

Like chewy chocolate tasting things. I saw on Facebook that you asked what a Tootsie pop is- it is a lolly pop of a fruit variety with a Tootsie roll in the middle. They are also really yummy (if you get the right flavour!)

ROFL a P.I.T.A. sandwich! LMAOOO! It's nickname a Klose Sub. ;)

I have a feeling they're using more FB to FB questions than expected! Woohoo!

Oh, and Kevin as the "Florida sunshine," NC Belle? You must be drinking. :X

The house is dry. We did not buy anything in awhile since it is a lot of WW points per beer (I don't care for the Lite versions).

American candy is good, but I love English candy and snacks myself. I really enjoyed my time spent in London. During my senior year in high school, our English teacher took us backpacking across Europe. I was SO into Spice Girls at that point (I know lol) and made sure to visit shops they went to often. I had a blast in Tralfagar Square!!!

We decided to do a different type of show today.

We aren't doing a typical email show.

You will learn a lot about the podcast team from this show.

I'm hearing a lot of stuff I didn't know about the people I work with.

Oh, sounds exciting! I can't wait! :thumbsup2

You always want the candy you can't have.....

I am the same with Fruit Loops, I REALLY want them, but when I get a whole box, I rarely finish them!

Did you know they currently have an empty plinth in Trafalgar Square where people win the chance to stand on it for an hour? Sounds pretty cool to me (except when it was pouring down rain this afternoon!)

Sounds yummy although Tootsie just makes me think of toes :rotfl:

Is it true the first person to respond to this thread gets a shot at the prizematron?

Frank, I borrowed Lance from your signature.:rolleyes1 Thanks!

I just got a rejection from a celebrity for an interview for the show. Hmmmmph... :snooty: Oh well, you win some, you lose some, but I did learn this person's an iPhone user.

Can we have a hint as to who this person is?

Today is National Chocolate Day!!!

I haven't had chocolate in a while. I can't think of a better reason to go eat some.

I'm going out later and celebrating National Chocolate Day with a Snickers bar...Then I'm going for a run. :)

I plan on riding my bike then eat some chocolate.

That reminds me...I hid a box of Lindt Lindor Truffles in the pantry and forgot about them!!

Must go to Pantry NOW!

Oh man I love those. I haven't had any in about 9 months.

I think you will find this show very interesting....

It's very, very different from what we usually do.

I can't wait to hear the show!

People! Doesn't anyone have to work around this place? The Brits get a pass, but the rest of you need to get out of your mother's basement. As far as I am concerned, if I have to work and my parents will not let me back in the basement you should too. It's just not fair you get to play while the Podcast is being recorded and I can't.

I think Don's the only one that works in his Mother's basement, and can make his "special" recordings for the show.

Although I am living at my parents home at the moment, but that's ok, cause I'm a student :rotfl:
