Are my eyes deceiving me? It looks as if the Canadian dollar is now on par (if not slightly higher then the Can. Dollar). Wholly molly! Time to do some shopping!

As of right now xe.com says 1 Canadian dollar is worth .99839 USD :scared1:

I went on xe.com and saw that 1.0000 USD bought 1.0011 CND and thought okay that can't be right (:lol I've been following this like everyone else for the last little while but my brain just didn't understand). I had to do another search.

I'm sitting here like a moron and just keep saying "wow." Something I didn't think was possible.

Woohoo!! I couldn't have planned the timing of this trip better! :cool1:

In 2001 and 2002 our dollar was worth 60cents! Guess where we went on vacation???????????????????????

Now I just wish more online stores would ship to Canada!!

In the Halifax Chronicle Herald this week there was an LL Bean catalogue with a special free shipping offer for Cdns. Maybe I "need" to go check out their sale section.

We are paying off our cruise on Monday. I want to pay TODAY but I know it takes a couple of days for the credit card co to catch up in exchange rates.

Sandra we were in florida that year too. I hope this rate stays for a while I want to get lots of money ahead for our trip in December. Mrs. Santa might have to do some Christmas morning shopping lol

Yesturday, the exchange rate at Pt.Edward Casino (gives same rate as at most banks): to buy $1.00 USD it cost $1.03 CND....to buy $1.00 CND was $1.01 USD:banana:

We went to WDW in 2000 and then bought DVC in 2001 - ouch!! Wish I could afford to add onto my points right now! Oh well - leaving in 29 days and this sure helps:cool1:

We bought our 5 day DL park hopper passes yesterday. That was certainly a refreshing change to see the dollar so high.

This is for free shipping only, you will still be charged duties and taxes (it's all in the information pages in the middle of catalogue). Every item in that catalogue is imported (except for wreaths as they are shipped from Maine), so that means there will be duty, brokerage fees and taxes charged on everything in that catalogue. Incidentally, Sears has owned LLBean for awhile now, and we just got the new LLBean items in our Sears store last week. Maybe your Sears store will be carrying some LLBean stuff too.

Tiger :)

Oooooh nooooo.

This is as bad as Wendy's buying Tim's (I know, I know, they sold it again...) Just the wrong "vibe" for that company, you know? I have purchased lots from LLBean over the years (and with 60-cent dollars) and find for whatever reason the duty never seems as bad as some others. (I know, it must just be a "halo effect"). They did, for a while at least, drive their own trucks across the border, so the brokerage fees were nil.

That's good to know about the brokerage fees - we have always been afraid to order even with free shipping because we weren't sure about the fees. Maybe we'll give it a try?

Thanks, Tiger :)

The pain of it is, b/c they literally take a truck across the border, Canadian orders only go out once or twice a week. So, if you miss the day, it could take a few more days. Seems to come out in the wash, though, in fees and ease...And their customer service is second to none. I remember I had a wonky zipper on a winter coat, and I sent it back with an angry note, as the zipper had grabbed and damaged a sweater I had on underneath. They phoned me up to ask me could they replace the sweater! Now, you can see why I don't want Sears to put their paws on LLBean!! ;)

It is too bad the price of cars up here does not reflect our improved dollar. I was pricing a Toyota Rav4 the other day. I went to both the American and Canadian websites to compare.

I built the EXACT same car on both sites. It is $12,000 MORE to buy the car in Canada than it is to buy it in the States. That is after I converted the American total into Canadian dollars!:scared1:

Unless the car dealerships up here lower their prices when I buy my car I am going to the States!
