in August, going for 7 nights, the 15th - 22nd in a 2bdr for the 3 of us.

What sort of stuff should we bring? We will be driving down since both adults hate to fly. I figure a lot of sun screen and some bug repellent, bottled water and other drinks, both soft and some not so soft.

Is there any spices included in the kitchen? Are the pots and pans decent? How about cutlery, decent quality knifes? Although I'm picky about my knifes, I'll probably bring a couple of my favorite ones.

Foil, PAM, storage containers? Should I bring some ziploc bags and containers?

Is there a Costco anywhere near by?

The BBQ grills, any1 here have any pictures of these? I love to grill.

Any1 else here going to be there that timeframe?

I'll probably think of more silly ??? before we go but TIA for this.

Oh yeah, I booked yesterday, 1/24/07, for this August week. I'll have to plan better for next year.

As far as Costco, I can't remember any close by... I doublechecked on their website, but didn't have any luck. Personally, I probabily wouldn't buy Costco for a 7 day trip.. Their stuff is awesome, but depending on how many people are going, the packaging could be too big.. There is a Super Walmart in Sebastian.. (15 mins of the store). We usually shop there...

The kitchens at VB are stocked pretty much like all of the other DVC kitchens... I'm sure if you search this board, you could probabily find an inventory of what's there... Generally it's all of the standard assesories...

We do buy a small non stick cooking spray at Super Walmart, but don't usually worry about the storage containers or the foil...

I just booked an Inn suite for the 8-19/22 now my DM and DsF want to go so I'm torn about just getting them aN Inn room or adding the extra point (all borrowed) and doing a 2 bedroom.

Can't help with the rest but see ya there.

You are going to have such a nice time in Vero - it is our favorite DVC. We usually bring small containers of all the condiments. I think they have small packages (like you use with coffee) of sugar but not much else. We make a run to the Publix in Sebastian which is a little closer than the Super Walmart. I just happen to prefer Publix to Super Walmart but that is just me:hippie: :hippie: We get laundry detergent, too, as the little boxes they provide just are not enough. Another must stop for a 'staple' is Hales Groves in Sebastian. It is only about 5 minutes away (the resort really is much closer to Sebastian than to Vero Beach) and has the most delicious, fresh squeezed orange juice. Have a wonderful time - here is a little pixie dust. :tink:

Awesome Congrats..... We'll be down there from the 18 - 25th of August.
You will love VB.

Sun Screen and Bug Repellent (Cutter Advanced is what most folks say works the best)are a must. Bring storage containers and plastic bags. Also bring a small cooler for sandwhichs and beverages to bring to either the pool or to the beach. Bring your beach chairs and beach umbrella since you are driving. This will save you lots of $$$$ from renting the stuff on the beach.

I HIGHLY recommend buying a VB refillable Mug when you first get in. For $10 this gets you bottomless coffee and softdrinks. In the summer this is a HUGE savings!

Don't remember a Costco but there is a Super Walmart about 10 mins drive that will do the trick. There is also a supermarket within 5 min drive. You can drive right by it on the way to the resort.

No Spices so you should either buy there or bring. Pots and Pans are good enough, if you search the DIS boards you will get an inventory of items.

As far as the BBQ grills have never used them and don't have any pictures but they are across the street (under the tunnel :lmao: ) from the resort in a picnic area. They are all charcoal grills. I would bring some foil and maybe a grill brush to scrape any crud and debris off.

Questions... please ask away! There are many of us here who LOVE VB and enjoy answering questions. :thumbsup2

Thanks every1, great info so far. A Super WM will do nicely, we shop there frequently here at home.

I know we'll be hitting Costco here for beach gear and snorkel gear. I SCUBA dived for years but it's been years since I did any. Hope to do a bit while at VB.

Looks like a couple of you are going to be there while we are, see someone is from B'more about 90 miles from us, neighbors almost:cool1:

I'm sure I'll have more ??? not only is this our 1st VB stay but it is our 1st DVC vacation, not including the 1 night we spent at HH last year on the way home from WDW.

Love VB  We were there last August.

Since you are driving I would suggest you watch Costco this spring for an Umbrella and a couple of nice beach chairs. We bring our own every year. Plus I purchased this little 2 wheeler folding cart at Staples. I strap (bungee cord) my Boogy board, chairs, and umbrella to it, and wheel everything to and from the room and beach. Your costs will be recouped after the 3rd day by not renting them.

Mahusky is right... buy that refillable mug. Everything is so close that wherever you are in the resort it is a short walk to get that refill (even from the beach). And I too believe the only grilles are on the lakeside of the resort. They are the typical iron 12x12x8 type of grille.

Vero4us is right about the Walmart and Publix... The liquor store is at the end of the strip were the Publix is :rolleyes1 and there is a fairly new CVS pharmacy/store on the way too.

You will have a 2 bedroom and so plenty of room, but to I'mNoPrince I would suggest taking a hang on the door shoe organizer. We bring this everywhere we go and store everything from sun tan lotion to electric razor in it. Really helps keep the clutter down, especially in the Inn or Studio rooms. Just hang it on the bath door. :thumbsup2

My grandmother use to own a little bar just on the outskirts of Martinville WV. And we have also seen our share of Charlestown RW growing up as well. So yes we are very close and know the area a bit.

This will be our first off-sight stay as well as DW wanted a bit of a relaxing few days. I don't think she will get a lot at our June BCV stay so here we go.

DD has never seen a real beach with half decent water as all she knows is OC MD . I think we are bringing our snorkleing suff as well if I can find room for in and find where it is.

New dilema DM and DsF wants to go so I just booked them into a OV Inn room as well. I already borrowed a few points for my stay and all of theirs. Should I go the extra 15 points and just get a 2Bdrm or stay with the 2 OV rooms what do you all think it's only 4 days 3 nights so do I really need the the kitchen and such. What are the better locations and views the Inns or the 2bdrm villa.

Did you mean Martinsburg, WV? I don't know Martinsville. What is Charlestown RW, don't know what RW is.

Yep, plan on hitting Costco for beach supplies. The VB mug for soda will definitely be a hit.

Do the soft drinks include iced tea?

Yes, Ice Tea is included. As well as Ice coffee if that is your thing too. Nice thing abouth the softdrinks is the soda dispenser is outside and you just walk uop and serve yourself! No waiting to quench that thrist!:cool1:

Howdy neighbors... we're just 30 minutes from M'burg & Charlestown in Stephenson Virginia (just NW of Winchester). Also, attended many games at Camdon yards when Cal & Brady were still on the team. You all have a good trip... we're changing things up and heading to HH in June.

Thanks for everyones input . I just got off the phone with MS and decided that the ocean view and 15 less points were outweighed by the bigger room and the King bed for me.

So it's a 2bdrm for the bunch of us.

We're going the 12th-15th. I always bring (to any DVC) zip loc bags with sugar, spices, and tea bags. I also bring aluminum foil and zip loc bags. I used to pack detergent when you could get it in individually wrapped ball packets. We love VB let's hope we all have outstanding weather!!!

There's a Publix about 5 min. away. Studios have all plastics. 1brs have silver, pots, pans, etc.

You are close, well pretty close then. I have a friend that is an ins. agent in Stephenson City. What a small world.

Enjoy HH in June

It would be funny if we wound up next to each other.

I miss these. I used to by the Tide ones in a big box .... throw a few handfuls in the suitcase and away we went! Packing liquid is a pain and HEAVY!!!! Off to Publix I go!!!:lmao:

I have been taking the Oxyi clean balls with to do laundry, they work well and pack well.:cloud9:
