:sad2: Just found out today that DH vacation request for 10/15 to 10/22 was denied. We are not going. I finally booked 3 nigths at BLT 1BR MK and 4 nights SSR with a waitlist fo the 4 nights at BCV and turns out we're not even going. Was so looking forward to celebrating son's 3rd bday there and going to our first MNSSHP.

Now I dont know what to do. We had some approved vacations on July 4th week and last week of December BUT I didnt plan for any of those.

I immediately checked the flights for 7/2 to 7/9 and its a little cheaper than October fare. We didnt plan any summer trip since we were there last year and son got sick - too hot for him I think.

I dont have any reservations in December BUT how expensive will the air fare be from PVD to MCO - double? :headache:

Maybe just stay put and bank our points. :sad1:

I am just sorry that you will not be able to go on your October trip. We have been around 4th of July but do travel all the time in the summer and you are right, it is hot.

Just have to go early, do a few hours, head back to the resort and relax and then hit the park at night again.

But, December might be really nice--the crowds might be there but at least it won't be scorching hot.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

So sorry you can't go in October. We are hoping to make our first reservations as DVC owners in October. Hope you can work out something for December. That is another option for us and supposedly REALLY beautiful that time of year! In other posts, we have had MANY people recommend December.
I don't know what airport you are looking to fly out of, but the flights from Baltimore or Washington are about the same prices as in October. At least the first 1/2 of the month is about the same. Hopefully you can find something then.
Good luck!

We were expecting that we will most likely travel all the time during the July
4th weekend because they annually shutdown the factory where my DH works on that week. Plus, when DS starts school we will most likely just go during summer vacation.

This is the main reason why we didnt want to go during summer this year. Oh well. Just so bummed since it was today that I finally called MS to book the last 4 nights of our trip, only to find out a few hours later that I wont even need it.

PVD to MCO and fares are scheduled to come out on 5/26. I remember though that a friend of mine believed SW dates only to find out too late that they published it sooner and all the good and cheap flights are gone.

Will the pool be too cold in December? DS loves to play in the pool.

Some good friends of ours go every December. Most years it is ok, last year was very cold. We were there at the end of January this year. There were a couple of days that many folks were in the pool. They are heated but WAY too cold for me............I grew up in FL and like my pool and ocean water around 80 degrees. My husband grew up in PA and 65 degrees is fine for him! I don't think kids care as much, as my 4 yr old daughter was ready to jump right in.
I checked for flights on Airtran and they were posted as the same rates in October. SW was not out yet as of last week. I think they are 6 months out.
Our friends go every December because it is their most favorite time of year. All kinds of extra activities going on, parades, candlelight processional at EPCOT, MVMCP, etc. And so many people have said the same thing. We simply can't decide which time to go.......guess it will depend on what kind of reservations we can get. Not easy to do a split stay with a 4 yr old and 2 yr old twin boys.
Good luck!

Sometimes Decembers are warm enough to swim, but this past December I only went into a hot tub once during the week I was there and didn't think it was warm enough to swim...that was a week around December 11th, but then over NYE vacation we all did go swimming. You just don't know in December!

Last year's weather around the 4th of July was not super hot! We were there and had a great time, and we were going to do it again this year, but we're going in June instead. We all loved the 4th of July fireworks.

I will watch out those Dec fares when they come out. I priced out July 4th weekend and it came to 820 for 3 of us.

I agree on split stay for you - you got ur hands full there. We prefer not to split even with just 1 son - lol. We decided to split october because we couldn't get the full week at home resort at BLT. We could get full week at SSR but we want to take advantage of BLT proximity to MK MNSSHP.

Weather lately in Orlando has been anything but normal. This past year we went in August, not so bad actually and some nights just downright pleasant.

Went in October, oh my gosh we like to have burn up. We hit a week of exceptionally high temps.

Dec. nearly froze our pattutties off.

So if you have to go at another time, do it and adjust. If you go in July, take a mid day break, rest and swim and enjoy the late hours.

BDL has flights that are somewhat cheaper. If you are in the area too, the Worcester airport offers some decent airfare, but restricted schedules.

With your son at 3 yo, you should consider December. It will be very busy the last week of December, but the parks are great! Unfortunately, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party ends a few days before Christmas, so you won't be able to do that. The Epcot Candlelight Processional goes until the end of December. My son (4 at the time) loved seeing Santa at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I am not sure if they still have Santa greeting children after Christmas Day. The parade is great for kids. My son loved the Osborne Family Christmas display at HS.

It was freezing the week we were there in December, so swimming was not an option. As you have said, there will be plenty of summers ahead for you, so December this year would be a nice way to see the parks at Christmas.

If you are strongly considering that week, you may want to get your foot in the door at your home resort soon!:thumbsup2

boo hoo:sad2: that makes me very sad for you.

we are booked for October and don't even know if hubby will get his vacation time....:scared1:

His work is really weird in that you can only requeset it 90 days ahead I think...he doesn't think it will be an issue. He got off for easter week for our girls spring break with no issue so we could go to Boston. Here's hopingpixiedust:

Called MS first thing today and there is nothing for the week of 12/24 to 1/1 at BLT. I said check for any rooms for those dates - nothing!!!!

I know!!! We got approved last year for 2 weeks (end of July and 1st week of august, then another week in Feb). There is 1BR availability at BWV, OKW and SSR the 1st week of July and airfare is not bad BUT no MNSSHP and its not his bday month. :sad2: Maybe just transfer or bank the points.

Well, I hear it's really nice at WDW in July! Or at least I hope it is, because that is when we are thinking of going in 2012!! I have seen some other threads about the 4th of July week, and it sounds like the fireworks are really good, although it is busy and HOT!!

If you can't get into BLT, you ought to consider AKV, which is our home. Your son would love watching the animals, and the pool at Kidani is great.

Have a great trip, whatever you decide to do!! :cool1:

We looked at our different options and decided to....drum roll.....

go in JULY!!! :yay:

Booked 1BR at SSR from 7/2 to 7/9. It was a choice between SSR, OKW and BWV.

Now gotta get the flights in.:cool1: SW has $819 RT for 3 of us. Checking other airlines.

Thank you all for your support.

We always spend a week there in July at the BWV:thumbsup2
