We've just booked a week's holiday in Cornwall for the spring half term and for the first time we're taking Janet's hearing dog Coco with us.

Normally Coco goes into kennels, but not this time, we're really looking forward to it. Its not WDW, but at the moment its what we can afford and its a break we could do with.

Booking was a triumph of technology over disability too. I was at my desk in Bath while Janet was at home searching for somewhere to stay. She had found something that the kids liked the look of, so quick as a flash DD sent the link to me via MSN Messenger.

I then looked at the web site and made contact with the owner to check availability. I had Janet on MSN in Birmingham, the owner on the phone in Cornwall and me with my one handed typing also on MSN in Bath. The owner was quite amused at the way this deal was done, with me acting like a Typetalk relay service, typing details to Janet via messenger and we were all 100 miles apart.

We're hoping for basically a relaxing break away, children will have access to a swimming pool too. We also hope to go and see Eden Project as well, so would be interested to hear if anybody has been here before.

That sounds wonderful,it's great to have something to look forward to:bounce:

It shows how technology can transform our lives for the good and not always the worse:jester:

What is the Eden Project?

well done you!!!!!!

did you know about the new service talking text??

abit better than typetalk and msn, new on the market, they are now trialing it free, so if you want an email address let me know.

We have been seriously thinking of applying for a hearing dog for the deaf for DH, currently we have a miniture schanuzer, she would be really "Put out" of having her dad taken over!!!, it is something that always amazes me ,even in my line of work.Tell me just how much differance does coco make??.

We love the Eden Project. Its not the cheapest day out but it quite unique. The biggest dome is the best, it tropical in there and I was most amazed at the size of the lillypads! The other dome is good but not so huge. Its a truely fantastic day out.

...... for Karen :-

My BIL and his wife visited last year. They loved it but were a little disconcerted at how busy it was! Maybe it would be a good idea to arrive early for opening?

That was a neat website Shirley. Thanks for posting it. I'll have to show it DH, he's potty about his plants.

This is what makes me wish we could go live over there for a time. That's the best way to really get to see/know a country. I hate having to run around like a madman for two weeks trying to see everything. You get back home totally worn out.

I haven't yet given up hope of getting stationed over there someday--I can dream!
