Continuing on with the photo tour, we have the world's creepiest chairs:
Off the lobby, there's this nice porch with seating.
There's steps off the porch down to the ground, where these lovely flowers are located.
And under the porch, there's this plethora of mismatched seating:
Moving to the left, facing the lobby, these are the other stairs with the walkway above leading from the lobby to the Inn portion.
Flying Fish, where Mom and I plan to eat in December.
Looking towards the Villas:
Panoramic of the Boardwalk, Swolfin, Yacht & Beach Clubs:
Seashore Sweets:
Which made me think, "Oh, I need to buy fudge for grandma. Wait, I already did that. Where's the fudge now?" I realized I left it in the fridge! So I hustled back upstairs and let myself in, apologized to Mousekeeping and thankfully the bag was sitting on the counter, she hadn't thrown it out yet. Whew!
Six minutes later, I was back down on the Boardwalk. I loved these super classy mannequins.
Kouzzina (decided I'd like to try breakfast here in August, before it closes):
Down by Seabreeze Pointe, looking back at the Villas:
Seabreeze Pointe itself, where I desperately want to get married some day:
And the view from inside the pavilion, which is truthfully not the background I'd love for my wedding photos:
Thinking of weddings made me think of rings. Which made me realize my Mickey ring was not on my hand. Panic attack! I remembered taking it off and setting it on the nightstand the night before, so once again I ran back up to the room, where Mousekeeping was just finishing up. I apologized again and told the poor woman I'm not normally this much of a flake. She said she hadn't seen a ring but I knew it was there somewhere-sure enough, it had fallen behind the nightstand onto the floor. Double whew!
When that ordeal was over, my shins were killing me. I'm not in the best of shape anyway but I tend to get shin splints even when I'm actually exercising. The pain was bad enough I felt like I might throw up. So I went back to the lobby and picked my bags back up from bell services before making my way out to the ME pick up point to just sit for a few minutes.
Then the real fun began. My ME pick up time was 9:45am, my scheduled departure was 12:35pm. At 9:40am, literally a minute before the bus pulled up, I got the first text that my flight was delayed until 1:50pm.
There were a few people already on the bus, but I was the only one who got on at Boardwalk. We then continued on to Caribbean Beach, where an entire high school baseball team boarded. Their coach made a few of the boys help load their bags so they driver didn't have to do it all himself. Soon the Tragical Express was on it's way. I was in like the third row, and I took a few pictures of the movie.
Yay IllumiNations!
I think we arrived at the airport around 10:30. Soon enough I got another text that the flight had been delayed to 2:20pm. I meandered down to the Southwest counter to print my boarding pass then made my way to security. The line wasn't too long but they definitely weren't as lax as Buffalo had been. I was a hot mess and my hair was just up in a messy bun, which the X-ray scanner didn't like. So I got my bun and also my left ankle patted down. Stopped in the main area of the airside terminal to call my mom and text PB & Matt to let them know what was going on, since around 11am I got another text that the flight was delayed until 2:55pm.
Took a slow walk down to my gate, which of course was at the very end of the terminal and couldn't find a seat, so sat at another one a couple of gates down. Used my computer, probably tried to read the Kingdom Keepers book. 11:40, got the penultimate text that we were not leaving until 3:25pm. I was convinced I would never get out of the Orlando airport and that it was a sign I should move back to Florida! Went to Sbarro and got a super greasy stromboli. Couldn't find a seat anywhere in the food court, so sat in one of the uncomfortable gate chairs nearby and read my book. Got a frozen yogurt from Freshens. Made my way back to my gate where a seat had finally opened up. Read more Kingdom Keepers. Eventually we got the announcement that our plane was on it's way in and then came the time to line up. I'd lost my A boarding position when I switched flights, I was now in the B 40-somethings. Somehow I still got a window seat in like the sixth row. We're sitting on the plane and not going anywhere. The flight attendant came on the PA system and announced that we were currently without a pilot! Apparently the one who was supposed to fly us would be over his legal flight limit for the day due to all the delays and late starts on all the flights. So as we're sitting on the plane, at 4:18pm, a final text comes through that we'd be taking of at 4:35. Thankfully, the plane landing in the next gate had a pilot we could use!
So probably around 4:45, I was in the air on the way back to Buffalo. Six hours in the Orlando airport, not how I wanted to spend my last day. Shortly after 7 we were coming closer and closer to landing. This is a mostly frozen Lake Erie and the local Ford plant.
And this is the mall a few minutes from my apartment and the airport.
I have literally never been so glad to be back in Buffalo as I was right then. I believe we landed around 7:15 and as soon as I was able to turn on my phone, I found a ton of messages from friends asking if I had landed yet. I told Matt I was finally there and he could come pick me up. Made my way down to baggage claim and the Southwest office, where my luggage was waiting, unharmed and all there. Hallelujah! Something went right!
Matt came just a few minutes later. The trip had been a good one overall, and I'm so glad I finally got to stay at the Boardwalk, though I do wish it could have been for more than a night. All Star Movies was just okay and I prefer Pop Century or Art of Animation. But with that trip completed, it was time to start planning for Disneyland (13 days from now!) and my other two WDW trips in August and December.
Thanks for reading!
