My kids are finally old enough for me to enjoy taking them to the waterparks. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. We will be going the first week of June 2007.

Thanks pirate:

Both parks are fairly amazing in regards to slides and rides. My advice is to attend on an early opening day. We did that in June at TL and did every slide in the park prior to the posted 10:00 opening.

Definitely take advantage of EMH if you are staying at a DVC resort.
We went to TL in July and it was great. There are plenty of shady areas if you need to get out of the sun. From what I heard BB is pretty sunny.

We were at WDW last June. We hit both waterparks during the morning EMH. Got to Typhoon Lagoon about 20 min. before the EMH started (not planned just happened to hit the bus stop at the right time to catch a bus immediately) and were the first resort guests to arrive. This entitled my DS to be the Big Kahuna for the day. Definitely a pixie dusted experience. I would try to do it again in a heartbeat. Blizzard Beach chooses a Ski Captain each morning who opens the park by going down Summit Plummit.

We enjoyed both of the parks so either one would be great. They are different so it depends what you want. I think Typhoon Lagoon has the better wave pool, the slides and the ski lift at Blizzard Beach are great.

I agree with previous posters, get there early, beat the crowds and you can do most on the slides before lines form. Both parks are wonderful. TL has a tremendous wave pool and alot more shade. BB has a so-so pool but MUCH better slides but not as much shade. You can't go wrong with either..

Depending on what you mean by your kids being old enough for a waterpark, the following info might be helpful:

Blizzard Beach has a nice size area specifically for younger (elementary age - "tween" age) swimmers. It has two or three mid-size slides, a hang and drop slide, a pool, and iceberg balance-thing. It's a great place for kids old enough to want to play, but still hesitant or too short for the super-intense slides.

TL only has a toddler play area - nothing specific for ages 5-11.

And being from New England, I much prefer the tropical theme of TL. That plastic melting snow look at BB does nothing for me. I do readily admit that Teamboat Springs is the BEST family raft ride ever, but you'll find me in the shade at TL!

By the wording of your post, I am guessing that your kids are still on the young side, and in this case I would definitely suggest TL over BB. TL is more suited to little ones....yet there is plenty to do, as long as they are properly vested, etc. Out 3 yo did the Storm Slides over and over! (These are farily fast slides...definitely not "kiddie" but kids can do them as long as they are vested and dare-devils! :goodvibes )

And we did the OPPOSITE of others here...we slept in, had a large, late b'fast, went shopping in DTD, and then went to TL. By then, everyone who got there early eas leaving, and we had 4-5 hours in the park when it was virtually empty! It was awesome...everything was a walk-on (swim-on? lol).

My advice is to first think about how many hours you want to be in the water park...then count backwards from the closing time. So, if you want to spend 4 hours in a water park, and it closes at 7:00pm that night, go at 3:00 pm (or 2, if you want to give yourself a "cushion" on that estimate). The water parks REALLY empty out later in the day!

We love TL. We were there this August, and the new "Crush n Gusher" water "rollercoaster" was open. That was one of our favorite things on the whole trip!

Thank you all for the information. My kids will be 8,10,11 at the time of our trip. We will be staying at our home resort, at the Boardwalk, so we will definately take advantage of early entry! Also, once you go in to the waterpark, can we leave for lunch and return later in the day? I am assuming we can. Transportation will not be problem since I will have my own car. pirate:
