Some of you might remember that I was hoping to get a puppy for my b-day last week and DH was against it. Well, Wednesday night we sat down and talked and he decided that maybe it would be good for the kids to get a puppy to learn some responsibility and be able to grow up with the dog. Well, he didn't have to tell me twice! Next morning I called the vet to find a reputable breeder and we went and saw a litter of puppies. We spent a while playing with them and in the end picked out the sweetest little female Beagle! She is going to the vet(same vet I use for my cat) on Monday and then I can pick her up on Tuesday!! We are so excited and my dd's are thrilled. We are going to name her Sophie! We are going out today to buy a crate and all the supplies we will need for her. I took some pictures of her but I don't know how to post one so if anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Congratulations on your new addition!!!

Oh, I'm so excited for you!:D Beagles are such great dogs! You're doing the right thing with the crate. We crate trained our golden retriever and now, 6 years later, even though she doesn't need it anymore, she still goes into her crate on her own. They learn to love it - it's their own private getaway. Just remember, when it comes to puppies - patience, patience, patience!

Congratulations - and I can't wait for pictures!:bounce:

That is very neat, wdwnutze!!!! Best wishes with your new little cutie. If you would like me to help you with the pictures, just send me an email, under Mickey there on the right.

I love puppy pictures! I hope you can post a picture!! Congratulations!!!!!:)

Congratulations on your new addition. Puppies are alot of work (like having a new baby and much more maintenance than a cat) but bring so much joy!! We adopted our dog 5 years ago - she is a shepard mix and very loveable. Just a quick work of advice - don't expect your puppy and cat to become immediate best friends - I think alot has to do with the personality fo the cat - ours still hates the dog - stratched and hisses at her every chance she gets!!
Best of luck and can't wait to see the pictures!!

Cool! Beagles are great dogs - I have 4 of them. They're not the easiest to train, and NEVER let them off the leash unless they're in a fenced area (the instinct to track is too strong - that's why there are so many Beagles in the shelters). But they are loving, affectionate, and wonderful, not only with children, but also with any other animal you might like to bring into the family (although I wouldn't try a bunny - LOL!). Congrats!

Good luck with the new puppy, puppies are a wonderful thing, I wish I could have 10!
