Were flying I'm fritened. What

A prescription from the doctor. Last time we flew instead of making everyone nuts I called the doctor explained my "situation". I didnt even have to come in the DR wrote a scrip for just what I needed to fly down and fly home. It wasnt a big jar of pils- it was really perfect. I believe it was Xanax.
I wasnt a babbling idiot it just took the anxiety away. I was travelling when one of my kids was 14 months.
Good luck! Do whats works best for you

I also explained my situation to my dr and he also prescribed Xanax, it was nice and calming for my trip to Las Vegas, the turbulence is horrible when you leave Reno. I dont mind flying i just can't handle landing or turbulence. So it should make for a nice long flight in August from Spokane, Wa to Orlando, with 2 kids who havent ever been on a plane.

Don't go for the alcohol- vomitting isn't fun. If you need to relax- you could also try taking some benadryl. It tends to relax many people and makes them sleepy too. Or the regular dramamine makes many people a sleepy and helps with the nausea of turburlance. You could try these at home at night- to see how you react to them. However, you should speak with your physician- as I cannot legally provide medical advice. ;)

What airline are you taking? I know that on Delta Song (the one we always take) has a t.v. at each seat. You can get a lot of channels and there is music and trivia, where you play against everyone else in the plane. I found that this GREATLY took away my fear of flying. When the plane started shaking, I just a little upset that the screen kept moving. Normally I would completely freak out, but I didn't.

So if you are not taking Delta Song, or flight with t.v.'s, then maybe you might want to bring a protable DVD player, or something along those lines.

Happy flying :sunny: :thumbsup2

A prescription from the DR. would be good! You could always take a good book, magazines, crossword puzzles, DVD player, MP3 or Ipod :music: ! Even having a drink wouldn't be bad just don't over do it! :drinking1

Wow! I can't believe your doctors were prescribing Xanax. It's a huge rec drug around here.

I'm not sure what you can't do to take your mind off the fear. But you really have nothing to worry about. I love flying (I wish I could do it every day!).

The irony is... I suffered my first panic attack on an airplane (after I had flown several times before) and it lasted about 3 hours (panic attacks usually only last about 20 mins). I've flown a few times after that had happened (when I went to seek treatment for my panic attacks that would end up occuring daily, the dr didn't wanna hear about it). And every other time I flew no panic attacks. BUT the flight in which I did have a panic attack (I didn't know what it was then) the flight attendents were very nice and took good care of me (it was on Continental). The cause of my panic disorder is still unknown, but it could have been triggered by my sister's death, getting ready to go to college, or a myraid of other things. Not the plane.

To help me pass the time on a plane I usually bring pen, paper, cards, coloring book :cool1:, cd player, gum, magazines and/or a book. If you have a portable DVD player that might be a good idea too. Movies always keep my mind occupied.

try this cocktail--- 2 ativan (5mgs) a shot of vodka and put on your headphones with some Pink Floyd--- gets me thru the flight everytime.

...not only the flight but even Saturday nights....(just kidding ;))

Cheers to all us who have a fear of flying and cover it up with alcohol and loud music! :)

We flew on Delta Song and did not have a TV. My DSs brought there gameboys and I brought some crossword puzzles. Unfortunely, I got sick on the flight to Disney, so on the flight home I took the pills that my Dr. gave to me. It was Advert (sp?). I slept for the next 2 days. :lmao: This was about my 8th time to fly, I do not care to fly because I get really carsick. Of course I get really carsick when riding in a car too. :rotfl2:
You might love to fly once you do it. My kids and DH love it. Good luck and remember to have fun! :joker:

Try calling or e-mailing your airline. You might even be able to find out online if you search for U.S. Airlines. I am not sure how many flights have these T.V.'s, but it wouldn't hurt to ask just in case.

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

Remember it's safer flying then driving in a car.
