We're finally here...Aulani is Amazing!!!

Thanks for taking time to give us an update.

I'm sending lots of sunshine pixie dust your way. pixiedust:pixiedust:

:cool1::cool1: Looks like it's finally going to be a nice day! We're headed to Pearl Harbor this morning and if we have some time afterwards we might go to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. Hopefully we'll get home in time to go snorkeling.

I felt bad for our older kids. They rented a car yesterday to do some exploring on their own, and it rained the whole day. Not sure what they ended up doing?

I'm sitting out on the balcony right now enjoying the beautiful view waiting for the rest of the family to wake up. It's just so beautiful here!

I really hope you get some sun . Post pics please so i get a clue how hawai looks .

Hi Disney Mom to Alex!

Could you please post where your fantastic view room is (tower/floor)? We are going to Aulani in April and I have read a lot of posts saying "ocean view" rooms were less than stellar views. We have a 1BR ocean view booked.

I sure would appreciate it! This is probably a one-time only trip for us - we are from MA so looooong flight like you guys. We are celebrating DS high school graduation!

Thanks,
Sue

Danjulia, we are in the ewa tower in room 1250. It overlooks the entire pool area and the lagoon. I can't get my husband to come off the balcony! Whenever we are in the room that's where I find him!

Congratulations on being cancer-free! This trip sounds like an AMAZING way to celebrate. My own mother has been battling several cancers since July 2010, but its so good to hear that things can turn around and that cancer does not need to be an end all. Have a fantastic time! Can't wait to hear more :D

Congratulations and best wishes. What a wonderful way to celebrate. Sorry that the rainy season is living up to it's name at Aulani. Glad to hear you haven't had any problems getting around due to flooding. And Alex has it right, you're getting wet anyway so why not swim.

Congrats to Alex for snorkeling and getting his face into the water.

I'm sitting on our balcony enjoying our last night here. I just can't believe our trip is almost over.

On Wednesday we went to Pearl Harbor. It was so amazing to be there. We did the Arizona memorial and the tour of the submarine. It's definitely a must do.we got back to the resort around 2:30. Alex really wanted to go snorkeling and swimming. Wouldn't you know it, just as we got down it started to rain again. My husband made a reservation at Roy's for dinner. I'm a little fussy and I don't eat any seafood or meat. Pretty much just chicken. They don't have one chicken dish on the menu so I ended up ordering the vegetarian dish. It was ok. The rest of the family got fish and Alex had noodles with butter. If you go, get the chocolate lava cake for dessert!!!! When we got back from dinner to went to uncle's storytelling by the fire pit. That was a lot of fun!

We woke up on Thursday and decided to drive to the North Shore since the weather wasn't that good again. It was so much fun to just drive along the coast. We stopped at Giovanni's shrimp truck ( a must do door my daughter Nicole), saw the banzai pipeline, stopped to see turtles and then got some shaved ice at Matsumato's. It was a great day! Our older kids insisted that we go out by ourselves for dinner and they would watch Alex. We went to Just Tacos and the kids surprised us by calling the restaurant and paying for our dinner!

I'm getting tired and we have a long travel day tomorrow. I'll finish up the trip report when we get home. As they say here - Aloha

Hey, DisMomtoAlex, fellow Jerseyan here. Just want to say that I'm so glad to hear you've beaten cancer:lovestruc That is so worth celebrating, God bless!!!!!

Love your report, we're going after school gets out--please keep the info coming we're all reading with baited breath:surfweb:

Another Jersey Girl here! Congrats on beating cancer! Good for you! So glad you enjoyed your trip, sorry it rained so much. We are going in September and can't wait! So excited! Where did you fly out of? Thanks!

Kelblum, we flew out of Newark. We flew direct to Honolulu. It's such a long flight, but I think much easier than having to make stopovers. Going to Honolulu is about 11 hours. The hard part of it was the flight was at 11:30 in the morning so we didn't sleep too much on the plane. Plus we spent about $100 on yucky airplane food. I brought some snacks, but didn't think to bring sandwiches or anything. It was funny, the man behind us was eating raw red peppers like it was an apple!

Coming home the flight is about 8 1/2 hours and it's at night, so we all slept.

We got home two days ago and it's been a little rough adjusting to the time difference. Alex came home from school yesterday and fell asleep until 7:30.
Then he didn't fall back asleep until 11:00. It was not fun getting him up for school today.

Here's what we did the rest of our trip. On Friday we woke up and it was raining AGAIN! :sad1: We went to Koa Pancakes for breakfast. The food there is yummy! It was still raining when we got back so we dropped Alex off at Aunty's Beach House. We went up to the room to start packing for our trip home.:sad1: Around 2:30 it started to clear up so we went to get Alex and headed for the pool. The wind died down finally and it was a little warmer so I went in the lazy river with the girls and Alex. It was the first time I was in the water the whole trip!

My husband made a 6:00 reservation at Azul for dinner. It's an italian restaurant over at the Marriot. The food was really good. The chef makes fresh pasta everyday. I had the spinach raviolis and they were so good!:)
Everyone else enjoyed their meals and it was definitely the favorite restaurant of our trip!

On Saturday we awoke to a beautiful sunny day:cool1::cool1:
We went to AMA AMA for breakfast. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food was pretty good. Afterwards, we hung out at the pool until it was time to leave for the airport.

I miss Aulani already and can't wait to go back!!

Thanks!!! We are closer to Philly, but there are no direct flights so we have been thinking of going to Newark. We might now!

We are here at Aulani and loving every minute of it. Thankfully we arrived after the rain :) This Resort is gorgeous, as is our room, and our view is breathtaking! It is so much more than I expected...definitely worth becoming a DVC Member for!!! :lovestruc

We are only about 45 minutes to Newark airport, so it was definitely worth it for us.
We also have a place in Ocean City, NJ. We'll be there in May for the Spring Block Party. Are you close to Ocean City?

I agree. The resort is just so beautiful. I wish we were still there enjoying the pool. But at least the weather has been great here in NJ. Going to be in the 70's today:dance3:

: ) Wonderful news that you are cancer free:hug:. You celebration vacation sounds like it was wonderful.:cheer2: Cherished memories!

We live in the suburbs of Philly and took the direct flight out of Newark. We loved it as we traveled friday night and stayed at the Country Inn and Suites overnight for our Saturday flight. :wizard:Our room stay included two weeks of keeping our car, breakfast the next morning and complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. So worth it!

Thanks for posting. What a great celebration! I would love to go someday, but my DH keeps reminding me that we can at Hilton Head in 5 hours.
