So excited! We're headed back to Mickey world in May! :cool1: After last year going down in April, we didn't plan on going that close to summer again because it was super hot but it's the only time we could due to work and whatnot. ANYWAY...we'll be staying at AKL (Kidani), which I'm excited and nervous about staying there. The place looks amazing but we've only done values and have been very happy with doing so, they're fun, we love the theming...which makes us feel we're at disney. AKL is totally beautiful but one thing I'm worried about is the kids (and me too) thinking it's boring because we're used to the theming. My main concern is the rooms...we have a studio, savannah view (totally looking forward to the balcony :thumbsup2) and was watching some videos...where do you fit a playpen? Our little one will be 2 1/2 years old at the time and it doesn't seem like there's room for a playpen like in the values. Ideas?

How exciting!!!

I don't think you'll have any issues being bored. You're surrounded by animals!! But I like the subtle theming of the Deluxe resorts. The values are too crazy bright and flashy for my taste.

I think you'd be able to fit a Pack n Play in the bathroom/closet area. Not 100% though.

The animals are amazing! We typically stay at values but loved our stay at AKL. Your family will love it!

The rooms are themed just not in the over the top way the values are. I can't imagine being bored with all the activities and recreation areas available.
As for the pnp we put ours in a nook where the door to the adjoining room is located. It was out of the way and gave our dd her own space to sleep in.

How exciting!!! This resort is on my list of ones to stay at in my lifetime. I don't thin gourds will be bored. Like a PP said it's more subtle theming but but in a good way

Have an amazing time!!!

Bored was a harsh word to use at one of the best places on earth, lol. I'm sure we'll have fun! I can not wait to be near the animals...it's going to be so cool! Do the animals go into a secured area at night or do they stay out? Another question....we'll probably going to add on the dining plan. Our oldest is 10 now and has to order from the adult menu right? He is not a big eater so we feel like he's either going to waste a lot and be limited to the places where he'll eat because there's not many things he'll eat off the adult menu.

You won't be bored. We stayed in a studio last year with or almost 3 year old. She loved it. Bring binoculars. You don't really need them but it makes it even more fun. I believe the animals are out all night I know some of them were. It is really cool and peaceful. You don't need the bold theming of the values when you are there. You may have to do a little arranging to fit the pack n play unless you put it right when you walk in that is where the kitchenette is so there is some extra space. We put our stroller there.

As for dining plan - what we did instead of purchasing the plan we "pretended" to purchase it and took all the money we would have spent on DP and bought disney gift cards and used them on all our meals. We pretty much broke even but that included things that we would not have been able to use the DP on (such as a 6 pack of beer from the store at Kidani and some other snacks and such). We even picnicked on our balcony a few times just to enjoy the animals.

I've never stayed there either, but it's definitely on my list to stay out. I think you and your kids will enjoy the animals. It's a different but good type of resort.

We have been lucky with the dining plan, we've got it twice when it was free. Last year it wasn't offered free, so we priced everything out and decided it was cheaper to pay OOP and we ended up spending much more than we would've if we had the dining plan. We're not big eaters, it's because of all the snacks in between... like smoothies, ice cream, etc because it was like 95 degrees the whole time, lol. Which I'm sure it'll be the same this year since we're going in May. That's why we're going with the dining plan this year...not the only reason, it also works out to be a bit cheaper food wise and it's convenient. The picnic on the balcony sounds wonderful! :hippie: Ok, I'm glad there's room for the pnp...off to watch more videos, lol. :dance3:
