Hi all, We're back from our week long trip. Some bad news for becky-sorry but you have definitely lost your HNY supporter. The Disneyland Hotel is just out of this world and worth every single penny extra. It is absolutely beautiful, classy and the level of service is extraordinarily superb
.From the moment you step foot in the hotel you are treated like royalty. We were lucky enough to get a room looking over the side entrance to the park (just a standard room) and the lights from our hotel room at night and looking over the main street station were lovely-room 1108. The amount of attention from the characters and friendliness of the staff was exceptional and the convenience to the parks makes a HUGE difference when you have two little ones or for anyone with health/mobility problems. The room looked brand new so I imagine it must have been recently refurbished. We will be saving our pennies to stay there from now on-although it may not always be possible. I can also say that the HI, where we spent the first two nights, was also lovely. This time we had a room with a super king bed and a single bed which I much preferred over last year's which was a double and bunk beds. The room seemed much more spacious and light. I would definitely recommend HI to anyone wanting to spend an extra night or two or to anyone who doesn't care about staying onsite.
I think I mentioned (probably inappropriately) in another post that I have had some pretty horrendous and ongoing health problems lately and had been really worried about whether or not I could cope with the trip. Before we left I rang Disney to see if it was possible to hire out wheelchairs just in case. They informed me that if I could get a letter from my GP or consultant I would be given a pass allowing me and all members of my party to go directly to exit of rides without having to queue. This is what I did and it was amazing. It really made all the difference to me and I was able to cope. They even allowed us to stand in the disabled sections for parades and shows which meant front row spots without having to arrive early. It was an absolute godsend to me and I wanted to pass on the info in case anyone else has any problems that would effect their mobility. It is not just for people who are wheelchair bound. I have to say we were very impressed with Disney and intend to write a letter in to thank them. The park itself at Christmas is a dream-there are just no words. Just thinking about it brings a tear. I have to also say that from Mon- fri the park was empty-really!! We were able to go on many of the rides several times in a row without disembarking. I was really surprised by this (happily of course). To anyone who is going and has not experienced the Christmas season before, you will be truely amazed and be prepared to be emotional if you are that way inclined. It was the best holiday I have ever had; to DLP or elsewhere and I am very excited for all of you who are going for the Christmas season, you WILL love it!!
